五個理由愛上“羅村”:全美前30的新春藤大學

羅徹斯特大學(University of Rochester,UR)是美國一所著名的私立研究型大學,坐落在美國紐約州的羅徹斯特市。是2007年Kaplan/Newsweek《How to Get into College Guide》所提名的25所"新常春藤"院校之一。該名單提名了新的能以自身的教學與學生質量與傳統常春藤學校競爭的後起之秀。

Rochester, New York, where the University makes its home. Here are five reasons we love Rochester—and think you will, too!

  1. Affordable living in a foodie city. Rochester’s cost of living is 17.5% lower than the US average (Sperling’s Best Places, 2018)—an entire house can rent for $1,000 per month. This means you’ll be able to enjoy all our foodie-friendly city has to offer. Rochester is ranked 32 in a list of the 182 best foodie cities in America with respect to cost of groceries, affordability and accessibility of high-quality restaurants, and food festivals per capita (WalletHub, 2018).
  2. Community matters. Rochester is our home, and it’s important for us to give back every chance we can. We spend roughly 800 hours each year helping in the community, and over the past five years, more than 500 local children have benefitted from the Simon Volunteers Secret Santa program. It’s the club’s signature event and is a chance to gather with our Simon family to help Rochester families around the holidays.
  3. We appreciate the great outdoors. Whether you take in the sights and smells of the annual Lilac Festival in Highland Park or venture to Letchworth State Park—nicknamed the Grand Canyon of the East—just 45 minutes from the city, you’re never far from opportunities to enjoy the beauty of nature.
  4. It’s home to some of the world’s top companies. In addition to being included on a list of the top 25 most innovative cities in the US (24/7 Wall St., 2018), renowned organizations including Constellation Brands Inc., Paychex Inc., Xerox Corp., and Wegmans Food Markets Inc. are headquartered or have major operations in Rochester and its surrounding suburbs.
  5. Location, location, location. Rochester is nestled just south of Lake Ontario in western New York, about halfway between Buffalo and Syracuse. We’re a three-hour drive from Toronto and just over an hour flight away from New York City, Philadelphia, and Boston. We often hear from students that our proximity to major Northeast metros (with comparatively low cost of living) is one of the things they love about Rochester.
