Step two: 從句引導詞as, that, that, that

Step three: 冒號連接兩個完整的句子，此處相當於句號。

1）本句的主幹是we need art to tell us Memento mori，其中Memento mori是直接賓語(間接賓語是us)，

2）插入從句as religion once did作狀語，表示類比。

3）冒號之後三個並列的動賓結構 remember that…, that… and that…是對Memento mori的解釋，說明其具體內容。

4）句首的過去分詞結構 surrounded by promises of easy happiness作狀語，而後面的注意Memento mori(請記住)的意思。
