參考譯文：The CPC, from its birth, has taken as its goal to strive for people's happiness and human development.
解析：這英譯中的時候，要有“舉重若輕”的概念和技巧。其實，也 就是要對中文做減法。一個是從詞語的語義範疇作減法，即不強調詞語內涵的完全對等；二是從句法結構上作減法，儘量用簡單句結構。在中國日報的報道里，英文裡的用“strive for”來表達“謀”的意思，也有很大程度的減法。在中文裡，“謀”的意思“謀劃並竭盡全力”，而strive for 的意思則是If you strive to do something or strive for something, you make a great effort to do it or get it. 強調“竭盡全力”，而少了一些“戰略佈局”層面的意思。在句法上，將“為人民謀幸福、為人類謀發展”的動賓結構變成了英文裡的賓語，這樣就避免了在句子裡出現多個並列的謂語了。
