2017年4月1日，我國將設立對標深圳經濟特區和上海浦東新區的河北雄安新區（Xiongan New Area），作為又一經濟引擎，推動京津冀協同發展。是國家大事(be of national significance)、千年大計(a strategy crucial for the millennium to come)。
2019年1月2日，中國政府網公佈《國務院關於河北雄安新區總體規劃（2018—2035年）的批覆》，原則同意《河北雄安新區總體規劃（2018—2035年）》。
2020年1月，《河北雄安新區起步區控制性規劃》和《河北雄安新區啟動區控制性詳細規劃》標誌著雄安新區規劃建設進入新階段。
