07 如何表達不同程度的討厭 [英語口語系列]

I dislike it. “我不喜歡它。”

“It’s not really my thing.”

代表這不是你的風格或者是你喜歡的。非常

有禮貌得說你不喜歡某個東西，因為暗指

自己不喜歡，別人可能喜歡。

“I’m not very fond of this flavor.”

也是非常有禮貌，較弱地表達不喜歡。但需要

注意的是用來指人的時候，可能會聽起來代表

較強烈不喜歡。

“I’m not very fond of this style of music”

聽起來很有禮貌，而 “I’m not very fond of her”

聽起來你討厭她。

“I’m not a fan of it./

I’m not the biggest fan of it.”

兩句話的意思是一樣的：我不喜歡它。需要

注意的是指人的時候，“I’m not a fan of him”

可能是指他的作品，而“I’m not the biggest

fan of him.” 可能是指他的性格。

“It’s not (really) my cup of tea.”

這個⽤法來表達不同的人喜歡不同的人和事物。

禮貌地表述不喜歡的事情，尤其是有不同形式

的事情，e.g. 衣物，藝術，音樂，電影等。

暗指你不喜歡但有可能別人喜歡。

I hate it. “我恨它。”

“I (absolutely) detest/despise/loathe

doing laundry.”

detest /dɪˈtest/ 憎惡

despise /dɪˈspaɪz/ 鄙視

loathe /ləʊð /憎恨

以上單詞比 hate 強烈，非常正式的表達。

⼀般不會用來指人，因為實在是太強烈了！

“I take exception to that idea.”

非常正式，代表強烈的反對。一般口語中不常見。

“I’m really put off by that colour.”

代表很不喜歡。也可以把這個詞變為形容詞:

off-putting.

“That smell is really putting me off the

soup. ”=“I hate the smell of that soup."

“I find his attitude very off-putting.”

“Mosquitos are the bane of my existence.”

bane /beɪn/ 災星、禍根

“The bane of your existence” 會導致你的

⼈生有很大的麻煩，是你最大的敵人。

這個表達非常強烈，一般都會用這個表達來調侃。

“Algebra is the bane of my existence.”

“Windows updates are the bane of my

existence.”
