1、would可以用在疑問句中，表示委婉，客氣的表達，以代替比較生硬的will。例如

2、would用在過去將來時態中，後面跟動詞原形
Tom told us he would come over the next day.

3、would用在固定搭配短語中，用於提出客氣的要求或請求。
I would like you to fetch that document for me now.

I would like to know more about your plan.

4、would用在虛擬語氣結構中
If he had been at the meeting.he would have met Chairman Zhang.
與過去事實相反的虛擬語氣，從句用had加過去分詞，主句用would have加過去分詞。
Would mind if I smoked here?
與將來事實可能相反的虛擬語氣，主句用would加動詞原形，從句用動詞過去式。
5、would you mind+doing句型通常用於表示請求對方做一件有一定麻煩的事情，語氣一般都非常客氣。注意回答時通常是肯定的，以表示願意做所要求的事情。

6、用於委婉地表示自己的意見：
I would think the journey will take something like two weeks.
