Taylor Swift has won several prestigious awards in the field of music and this year the American Music Awards will be adding another feather to her cap. The songstress will receive the award as Artist of the Decade and will be performing her greatest hits for the last ten years or so on stage.

According to Dick Clark Productions’ executive vice president of programming and development, Mark Bracco, Swift’s impact on the music industry for the last ten years has been undeniable and that her performances during the AMA have been spectacular. He added that they’re very thrilled to honor her as this year’s Artist of the Decade and that they look forward to another one of her epic performances which never failed to blow the audience away.

Aside from being the Artist of the Decade in 2019, she was also nominated for the favorite music video, artist of the year, favorite artist for adult contemporary and favorite female artist and favorite album for pop/rock category. They’re expecting that Swift might even surpass the record of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, for having the most AMAs of all time in case she bags two of the five nominations she’s in this year.

During the 00s, AMA didn’t announce a winner for the Artist of the Decade but they gave the title to Garth Brooks for the just-ended ‘90s. The award-winning body awarded Artist of the Decade to Elvis Presley for the ‘50s, The Beatles during the ‘60s, Stevie Wonder in the ‘70s and Michael Jackson during the ‘80s.

Meanwhile, Swift is going to China during the Singles’ Day shopping extravaganza which is held annually and spearheaded by the Alibaba Group. She will perform with other prominent artists at Shanghai’s Mercedes-Benz Arena which will be held on November 10.

Taylor Swift will receive her award as Artist of the Decade at the 2019 American Music Awards which will be broadcast on November 24 from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.
