although和though是我們常見的狀語從句引導詞，在日常生活中使用率極高，然而這兩者含義和用法相近，但是在一些具體的用法上仍然有著較為明顯的區別。
一、當兩者用作連詞都表示“雖然”，含義和用法相同，絕大多數情況下可以換用，只是 although 比 though 更為正式，語氣也更為強烈，例如：
Although /Though he was tired, he went on working.
他雖然很累，但是還仍然堅持工作。
Though /Although we are poor, we are still happy.
我們雖然窮，仍然很快活。
二、although與though用作副詞有較大差別。一般although 不當做副詞使用，只有though 可用作副詞，並且不能放在句首，只能放在句中，句尾。這時可以翻譯為“可是”、“不過”：
I thought he’d been drinking, though I wasn’t completely sure.
我覺得他喝了酒，不過不是十分肯定。
The offenders were dealt with firmly though fairly.
這些違法者受到了嚴厲但公正的處罰。
They will probably win,though no one thinks so.
他們可能會獲勝，然而沒有人這樣認為。
The girl is better, though not yet cured.
女孩好一點了，不過仍未痊癒。
三、在一些習慣用語中，though和although也有著一定的差別。在as though(好像，彷彿)，even though(即使，縱然)等固定短語中不能用 although：
As though I were God.
就好像我是上帝。
The boy gabbled off the poem as though he neither understood nor enjoyed it.
這個小男孩急促而漫不經心地朗誦著詩，他好像既不懂這首詩又不喜歡這首詩。
Even though my hero has only one arm, she can do everything that we can do.
儘管我的小英雄只有一隻胳膊，可她可以象我們一樣做我們能做的事。
She trusted him with her life even though she knew no one would believe her when she told them what the angel said.
即使她知道當她告訴他們這位天使所說的話，也沒有人會相信之時，她也會用生命去相信他。
