Socrates（苏格拉底）
A young man asked Socrates（苏格拉底） the secret to success. Socrates told the young man to meet him near the river the next morning.
一个年轻人找到苏格拉底，向他请教成功的秘诀。苏格拉底让年轻人第二天早上到河边来见他。
They met. Socrates asked the young man to walk with him toward the river. When the water got up to their neck, Socrates took the young man by surprise and ducked（猛按...入水） him into the water.
两人见面之后，苏格拉底让年轻人跟他一起向河水走去。水深没过两人的脖子，苏格拉底出其不意地将年轻人的头按进水里。
The boy struggled to get out but Socrates was strong and kept him there until the boy started turning blue.
男子挣扎着要把头伸出水面，可苏格拉底力气很大，一直压着他的头直到他脸色发青。
Socrates pulled his head out of the water and the first thing the young man did was to gasp and take a deep breath of air. Socrates asked, “What did you want the most when you were there?”
这时，苏格拉底把他的头拽出水面，只见年轻人做的第一件事就是喘气，还深深吸了一口气。苏格拉底问他：“你在水下的时候最想要什么？”
The boy replied, “Air.”
男子回答：“空气。”
Socrates said, “That is the secret to success. When you want success badly as you wanted the air, then you will get it. There is no other secret.”
苏格拉底说：“这就是成功的秘诀。当你渴望成功就像渴望空气一样迫切的时候，你就会成功了。除此之外，没有别的秘诀。”
成功就像是一场化学实验，如果说不懈努力是必备的实验原料，那么迫切的渴望就是助你“一蹴而就”的催化剂。
