The issue of whether parents should or shouldn’t be involve in their children’s education has been posed among the general public. On the one hand, children are short of self-control and experience, thus they need to gain knowledge and experience. On the other hand, if parents take too much time in their children’s various activities, including education, their children will lose the ability of independent thinking. However, in the ultimate analysis, I contend that children’s education needs parent’s appropriate participation.
There are several reasons to support my opinion, and here I want to put forward some of the most important. In the first place, education is a lifelong thing, which also mean being educated is a lifetime thing. Take myself for example. I gain a lot from my parents. Last term, I went to the university for the first time. Before I left my home, my mom asked me to do something I don’t like---I should practice handwriting every week. And I should send the photo of the handwriting to her by Wechat. My father also did the same thing. He demanded I must write an essay every month. I was so annoyed and angry at their requests. I was a teenage, I can do what I want and what I like. I couldn’t understand why they involved themselves in my education when I was now an adult. The worse thing is they used living expenses as a condition. But I need living expenses, so I had to do the above things that my parents demanded. At the end of term, I practiced a fabulous handwriting and attained a skill of precise writing. I felt myself filled with new understanding about the writing. Therefore I realized how significant it is to have a controlled education.
Besides, family education is more profound than school education for a person. It has been said, “a person whose background is disadvantaged finds it more difficult to be the top one.” Then, what is this so-called “background”? That is family education. Nowadays, research results of Chinese families show financial resources into put into education is very high. According to the survey by Peking University, from pre-school education to high school education, the expenditure is as high as 20 trillion RMB. To achieve this, Chinese parents appreciate children’s education. Another survey also illuminates that family education is fundamental. According to the survey, there are big differences between children who have been educated by their parents and who haven’t when they grow up. The more gained by their parents, the better condition they have.
In conclusion, it is essential that parents should be involve in children’s education.
