毛毛今天带来一本讲述友谊的故事。毛毛始终觉得，友谊或许是一个人成长之路上最最重要的一个里程碑，甚或超过了学术方面的成绩。从传统教育模式下长大的我们，似乎在社交友谊方面接受的教育少的可怜，大部分依靠的可能都是父母的言传身教和进入团体生活后自身逐步的领悟。
美好的友谊，不但可以陪伴你的成长，与你一起分担喜悦忧伤，还可以在你力所不能及的时候，帮助你、支持你、鼓励你。
而今天这本绘本正是告诉了我们这个重要的道理。
作者Jonathan Emmett（乔纳森•艾美特）是一位英国出生的六零后绘本作家。然而作者的本来职业是一名建筑师。因为对绘画和写作的极大热情终于投身到了绘本创作的事业当中。他的作品曾多次获奖，其中包括红房子童书奖。

Winston was great at building things.
He was always building something for somebody.
He had built... a car for himself...
Winston很擅长建造东西。(别忘了，作者也是一名建筑师哦。）
他经常给别人造东西。
他为自己造了。。。一辆汽车。
... a boat for Alice
... and a motorbike for Ralph.
He had built them all by himself.
"Building things is what I do best!" set Winston proudly.
And everyone agreed.
。。。为Alice建造了一艘小船。
。。。为Ralph造了一台摩托车。
他所有的东西都是自己造的。
“我最擅长的就是建造东西!”Winston自豪的说。
大家也都非常赞同。
One morning, Ralph and Alice popped by and found Winston in his workshop looking very pleased with himself.
"I'm going to build something BIG!" Winston told them.
And he showed them a drawing.
"That is a REALLY big," said Alice.
"Are you sure you can build it all by yourself?"
"Of course!" said Winston. "Building things is what I do best."
一天早上，Ralph和Alice来到Winston的工作室，发现他非常的高兴。
“我准备造一个非常大的东西!”Winston告诉他们，还给他们看他的图纸。
“这可真是个大东西。”Alice说，“你确定只自己干吗？”
“当然啦!”Winston说，“我最擅长的就是建造东西。”
The next morning, three trucks arrived and delivered hundreds of bits and pieces.
Some of the bits were very large and difficult to carry.
"Can I help?" asked Ralph.
"I'm good at carrying large things."
"It's all right," said Winston. "I can do it myself."
But some of the bits were so large that Winston couldn't carry them.
第二天，三辆卡车运来了好多好多的大小材料。
其中一些非常的大，很难运送。
“我能帮忙吗？”大块头Ralph问。
“我很擅长搬运大东西哦。”
“不用啦。”Winston说。“我能自己完成。”
然而其中一些材料非常的大，Winston实在是没有办法搬运。
The next day, Winston started sorting through the smaller pieces.
Some of the pieces were very tiny and difficult to find.
"Can I help?" asked Alice. "I'm good at finding small things."
"It's all right," said Winston. "I can do it myself."
But some of the pieces were so tiny that Winston couldn't find them at all.
又过一天，Winston开始挑出小的材料。其中一些材料非常的小，很难发现。
“我能帮忙吗？”小老鼠Alice问。“我很擅长找到小东西哦。”
“不用啦。”Winston说。“我能自己完成。”
然而其中一些材料非常的小，Winston实在是没有办法挑出来。
A week went by, and Ralph and Alice began to get worried. They hadn't seen Winston for days.
"He's never taken so long to build anything before," said Ralph.
"He's never built anything this big before," said Alice.
"Let's make sure that he's all right."
They found Winston sitting on the floor of his workshop, surrounded by all the bits and pieces.
一个星期过去了，Ralph和Alice开始担心。他们好几天见不到Winston了。
“他可从来没花这么多的时间来建造东西。”Ralph说。
“他也从来没造过过这么大的东西呀。”Alice说。
“咱们还是去看看他吧。”
他们发现Winston坐在工作室地板上，身边散落着各种大大小小的材料。
Everything looked much the same as it had a week ago - except Winston - who looked very miserable. "Winston," said Alice, "what's the matter?"
"Everything," said Winston.
"Look at all these bits and pieces. Half of them are too large to carry - and the other half are too small to find!"
"So you haven't built anything?" said Ralph.
"No!" said Winston, bursting into tears. "and building things is SUPPOSED to be what I do best."
"it's just as well we're here then." said Ralph.
"Yes," said Alice, "where can we start?"
所有材料都还和一星期之前一样，除了Winston。他看起来非常沮丧。
“Winston，”Alice说，“你到底怎么了？”
“什么都不对，”Winston说着，“你看看这些东西。有一半儿太大实在没有办法搬运，另一半又太小很难挑出来!”
“所以说你还什么都没有做？”Ralph问。
“没有!”Winston说着说着哭起来，“可是我本来最擅长的就是造东西呀。”
“正好我们来了。”Ralph说。
“是啊。”Alice说，“咱们从哪儿开始？”
"Don't bother," said Winston. "I'll never build it."
"Nonsense," insisted Alice, "all you need is a little help."
Alice sorted through the small pieces and found the right ones.
Ralph carried the large bits to wherever they were needed.
“别忙活了，”Winston说。“我做不出来的。”
“瞎说。”Alice坚持。“你只不过需要一点点帮助。”于是她挑出所有的小块材料，找出那些正确的。
Ralph则把所有的大块材料搬运到正确的地方。
And, after a while, Winston got up and started building... which, after all, was what he did best!
They worked all day...
and all night...
过一会儿，Winston终于站起来了，开始建造。。。毕竟这才是他最擅长的呀!
他们干了一整天。。。
又干了一整晚。。。
And the bit by bit, piece by piece, they put it together - TOGETHER!
Until...
一块又一块，
一片又一片，
他们，齐心合力，把所有东西安装在了一起!
直到。。。
it was done!
全部完成!
"You see, Winston?" said Ralph, as they zoomed upwards.
"Building things really IS what you do best!"
"But I couldn't have done it without your help," said Winston.
"Well," laughed Alice, and she winked at Ralph, "HELPING is what FRIENDS do best!"
“你看，Winston？”Ralph说，它们一起飞到天上。
“建造东西确实是你最擅长的呀!”
“可是如果没有你们的帮忙，我绝对完成不了。”Winston说。
“好吧。”Alice笑道，还对Ralph挤了一下眼，“好朋友最擅长的就是互相帮忙啊!”
故事结束。

毛毛推荐这本书有几个原因：
首先，这本书的篇幅比较长，比较适合从初级阅读过渡到中级阅读的小朋友。词汇量很大但都是比较简易的单词，没有特别复杂的词语或语法。
其次，这本书的故事非常有趣，形象生动，语言也非常的简单质朴。故事开头一直没有说要建造的大东西是什么，直到故事结尾才终于揭开谜底。这样的情节设计，很吸引小朋友们阅读。即便是第二次阅读，第三次阅读，依然觉得很惊喜。
而最重要的毛毛推荐这本书的原因是，这本书告诉了我们一个平实的道理：友谊的真谛。咱们中国有句古话，三个臭皮匠赛过一个诸葛亮，不是正好贴合了这本绘本的主旨吗？故事的主人公，虽然很擅长建造东西，可是如果什么事情都亲力亲为，全部靠自己做的话，人无完人，最终还是有自己完成不了的事情。而他的小伙伴们恰恰好能弥补他其他方面的缺陷，这正是团队协作、互补互助的浅显表达。同时更加是
建立友谊、完善友谊、巩固友谊的最佳渠道。毛毛真诚的希望，每一个看过这本绘本的小朋友，都能够学习到友谊的真谛，能够和自己的好朋友互相帮助互相合作，在成长的道路上越来越强大!
