Hi, everybody! Welcome to Linda’s Class. I’m Linda. Today let’s read a story in the comic book Father and Son. It’s written by Plauen.
大家好！歡迎大家來到我的課堂。我是瞬兒老師。今天我們要讀的故事是出自於漫畫書《父與子》。
我們先來看題目Wow! The seal looks like someone.
Wow, 感嘆詞，used when you think something is very impressive or surprising. 當你感到驚訝或者印象深刻的時候你會用到它。 seal，海豹，這個詞很好記，是大海sea這個詞加上字母l就是它了。look 這裡是感官動詞，翻譯為看起來。like這裡是介詞，像的意思。
所以這個題目說的是：哇！這隻海豹看起來像某個人。
好，下面我們來看故事內容。
1. The dad and the son come to the aquarium to see the seal.
這裡有一個生詞，aquarium，a place where people go to look at fish and other water animals,我們翻譯成水族館。
這句話是說，這位爸爸和這個兒子來到水族館看海豹。
2. A seal comes out of the water and pops out its lovely head.
一隻海豹從水中出來了，這裡的動詞come使用了一般現在時的第三人稱形式comes。後面pop也是用了動詞的單三人稱形式pops。pop means to come suddenly or unexpectedly. 突然出來的意思。and pops out its lovely head. 突然間露出它可愛的頭。
哈哈，看這光頭，這小眼睛，這幾根小鬍子，像不像畫面中的某個人。以致這兒子忍不住了。
我們看下一幅圖。這兒子回頭瞅他爸。然後驚歎：
3. “Wow, this seal is looking exactly like my dad!” exclaims the son.
說，哇！這隻海豹實在太像我的爸爸了！這裡exactly是個表示程度的副詞。它的原意是精確地，確切地。這裡就是說，這隻海豹和他爸爸的樣子是精確的一致！分毫不差！
然後這個兒子exclaims. Exclaim means to say something suddenly and loudly because you are surprised, 就是呼喊，驚叫的意思。兒子驚訝地喊道。
接下來怎麼樣了呢？我們往下看。
4. Then there are another two seals popping out their heads and they all look like the dad. The dad mutters angrily, “Let’s go home, son! I don’t wanna see the seal any longer”.
Then, 副詞，used to say what happens next or what you do next. 翻譯為然後。我們常用的表示先後順序的詞，有first, then , after that, finally之類。
然後另外兩隻海豹也突然露出它們的頭，並且他們都像這位爸爸。這個爸爸就mutters angrily. Mutter means to speak in a low voice, especially because you are annoyed about something, 就是因為什麼事懊惱而小聲嘀咕，說我們回家吧，兒子。I don’t wanna see the seal any longer. 這個wanna是want to 的一種簡略說法，口語中經常這麼說。not ... any longer這幾個詞構成的一個詞組表示不再，再也不……和not ... anymore這裡這位父親說，我再也不想看海豹了。哈哈，看來這位父親是真的生氣了。
好了，我們的故事講完了。我們來複習一下今天學到的詞彙。
