Examiner：Welcome to the speaking section of the IELTS exam .My name is Adrian ,I will be asking you some questions . For marking purposes I’m going to record the interview .Is That okay ?
Examinee：Yes ,no problem .
Examiner：Alright .So ,can we start with your full name please ?
Examinee：Yes ,My name is Jade Lake .
Examiner：Nice to meet you Jade .
Examinee：You too .
Examiner：Uhm ,may I see your passport please ?
Examinee：Yeah ,here you are .
Examiner：There you are .
Examinee：Thanks .
Examiner：Where are you from Jade ?
Examinee：I am from Victoria which is the capital city of British Columbia ,the western most province of Canada .
Examiner：Okay ,uhm ,so ,ah ,I will ask you some questions .This will take about 12 to 15 minutes .and I’ll give you instructions along the way .Are you ready to begin ?
Examinee：Yes ,I am .
Examiner：Alright ,let’s talk about travelling .
Examinee：Okay .
Examiner：When is the last time you went on a trip ?
Examinee：Ah ,in July ,I traveled to Greece with my girlfriend Alice on a two week vacation .It was great !
Examiner：Excellent ,do you like to travel ?
Examinee：Yes ,I love to travel .I really enjoy seeing different and unique parts of the world ,like the Acropolis in Athens ,and I like to meet people from different cultures too.
Examiner：Okay ,Uh ,what do you need to do when preparing for travel ?
Examinee：Well ,I think the most important point to remember is to have a valid passport .Because ,without one ,you can’t get on the plane ,and it’s impossible to get it last minute .It’s also important to pack the right clothes and gear for your trip .That way ,you’re ready for any weather or challenges along the way .
Examiner：Okay .Is it a good idea to plan the details of your trip before departure ?
Examinee：Well ,Yes and no .I think it’s important to plan the main detail ,like you hotel bookings and your transportation ,but it’s also important to leave some time open for spontaneous activities .For example ,when I was in Greece my girlfriend and I ,we took this last minute sunset cruise ,and it was tonnes of fun .Sometimes the spontaneous activities are the most fun parts of your trip .
Examiner：Okay ,How popular is international travel in your country ?
Examinee：Well in Canada ,travelling abroad is quite trendy .Canadians are generally pretty well off ,and they like to explore the world .Also ,it’s quite cold for much of the year in Canada in the winter time ,so it’s refreshing and relaxing to go to warmer places ,like Hawaii .
Examiner：Mhmm, What are the most popular places to visit for people in your country ?
Examinee：Well ,Canadians like to travel to lots of different places ,but if I had to think of the most popular ones ,I’d say maybe America and Mexico because they’re close ,they’re convenient ,and they’re warm .
Examiner：Alright ,so that is the end of Part 1 .
Examinee：Okay .
Examiner：now for Part 2 I’m going to give you a card .
Examinee：Okay .
Examiner：The card will have some questions .You will one minute to prepare your answer for these questions .And then you will have one to two minutes to speak .Okay ?
Examinee：Yeah .
Examiner：I will tell you when to start ,when to stop .Okay ?
Examinee：Mhm .
Examiner：Alright ,so here is the card .Uhm ,please don’t flip it over yet .Uhm ,use your ,ah ,note sheets and pencil in front of you if you wish to take some notes .And I’ll tell you when to begin .Are you ready ?

Examiner：Okay ,your one minute begins now .Please go ahead and turn over the card .
(The card :Talk about an important person in your community . You should say :Who the person is and what role they have .What do they do to help the community ?How long they have been an important part of the community .What makes this person special ?You will have one to two minutes to talk about this topic .You will have one minute to prefer what you are going to say .)
Examiner：Okay Jade ,so your one minute is up ,please begin .
Examinee：Okay ,Well ,an important person in the community where I live ,in Victoria is Ralph Schneider . Ralph is the current leader of the Liberal Party .They were elected about two years ago .And ,ever since then ,he’s been managing the affairs of ,sorry ,He’s been managing the affairs of the Saanichton Municipality for the past two years . So ,Ralph ,uh ,campaigned his way into victory with his encouraging words and his position actions .He is a tall and charismatic man .He’s in his mid fifties .Even before Ralph became the leader of the community ,He was really involved in the community .He would help troubled youth ,he’d try to create jobs for the unemployed ,and he always created these really unique programs .He cares a lot about the safety of the community .And actually just last month ,he and his party started this new unique neighborhood watch program ,where volunteers would monitor a four block radius in pairs every evening walking around .and this has been so great for the security in our neighborhood and the safety ,and also ,it’s been really good for the night commerce in the area .In my family ,my folks actually own a coffee shop ,so it’s been really good for their business .Their business has been soaring .And ,I think that Ralph is just a special guy .He’s really made our community come together ,and even though he’s busy ,and he has two teenage kids ,he always makes the extra effort to make a difference in our community .
Examiner：Okay ,so that is the end of part two .Uhm ,may I have the card back please .
Examinee：Okay ,yep .

Examinee：You are welcome .
Examiner：Now ,we will begin Part 3 . I going to ask you some questions on a similar topic .Are you ready to begin ?
Examinee：Yes .
Examiner：Alright ,so let’s talk about community leadership .
Examinee：Okay .
Examiner：How important are leaders to a commerce of people ?
Examinee：Oh ,I think that good leadership is absolutely vital for the progress and stability of a community .Humans are social by nature ,and having strong individuals guide them ,is essential for their development .
Examiner：Okay ,Uh ,what characteristic are advantage and which are disadvantages for social leaders ?
Examinee：Mh ,a hard question .Can I just think foe a moment ?
Examiner：Sure ,take your time .
Examinee：Okay .Well ,I guess if I had to think of a key personality trait for a good leader it would be confidence .If a person is confident they can really gain the respect and trust of their audience .On the other hand ,a disadvantage of a good leader would be someone who display socially irresponsible behavior ,like drinking or gambling .I think that the community would have a hard time trusting someone who they doesn’t set a good example .
Examiner：Okay ,Uh ,if you could be a leader in your neighborhood ,what social issue would you address ?
Examinee：So what you’re asking is ,if I was a leader ,what social issue I would like to change ?
Examiner：Yes ,exactly .
Examinere：Okay ,well a hot topic in my community is the high cost of post secondary education .Many students in college and university really struggle to pay their tuition fees .So ,if I were the leader ,I would try and make a ,take a strong initiative to create some sort of program with either free of subsidized post secondary education .
Examiner：Okay ,uhm I’m going to ask you some more questions about community programs .
Examinee：Uhm .
Examiner：What are some important programs for communities to provide their residents ?
Examinee：Well I think that a very important program is athletics because many people say a healthy population is a happy population .So ,I think it’s important for the community leaders to ensure that the sports clubs ,like tennis and football ,are available and accessible to all of their residents .
Examiner：Okay ,To what extent should governments be responsible for financial support of recreation centers ?
Examinee：Well ,like I said before ,I do think that athletics and recreation centers are very important for a strong community .So I think it’s vital that the government makes sure that recreation centers are well funded ,well advertised ,and attended by the public .
Examiner：Have the programs in your community changed much since you were a child ?
Examinee：Huh ,I never really thought of that before .I guess When I was a child ,most of the programs at the community center would be either age restricted or separated by gender .So maybe ,nowadays ,I ,I’ve seen a lot of programs are co-ed ,and their also open to all ages .And I think this is great because it allows the community to come together no matter what age or gender .
