俞寧先生是本學會創始期常務理事和核心組成員、學刊英文編委，雖然其個人專業是英美文學（特別是對於Thoreau的研究），但是他的漢學造詣一直為學界仰慕，就是其單位也在開設相關課程：https://westerntoday.wwu.edu/tags/ning-yu
他的父親是漢語學界大名鼎鼎的俞敏教授。而英語學界鼎鼎大名的胡兆麟教授，據他本人說是他的舅舅。他的研究專業是英美文學，又承漢語研究的家學傳統，自然是屬於“鎮中西”那一類的學霸好漢。如我等出身日本關西地區的京都學派的“鎮關西”是無法與之相比的。
至今，我沒有見過他。但是他當選為本學會常務理事後，我認真仔細地通過網絡、人事和論著加深對他的瞭解。我仔細閱讀了這裡對他的全部評價：

有的說他：
This was probably my least favorite class here. This professor's teaching mechanisms were unclear and unnecessary. The syllabus was always changing and many homework assignments were deleted/added minutes before class would start making it impossible to actually be on top of your work in this class. He didn't answer emails. Not the smoothest class.
