光緒元寶是清朝光緒年間流通的貨幣之一。由湖北兩廣總督張之洞率先引進英國鑄幣機器鑄造銀元和銅元，之後各省紛紛仿效。共有十九個省局鑄造，除中央戶部，地方省所鑄銅元，皆在其正面上緣鐫寫省名。光緒元寶是大清光緒年流通大面值貨幣之首，是我國首批引進海外技術的印發流通貨幣，對於現今也蘊藏了一定歷史意義。“光緒元寶”是中國最早的機制幣，是中國近代機制幣中的十大名譽品之一，俗稱“龍洋”，因錢幣背面一般鑄有龍紋而得名。其具有重要的現實意義和歷史意義，且加上清末、民國戰亂連連等因素，一些較珍貴的光緒元寶銀元品種存世量已稀少，收藏價值高，許多收藏家對它趨之若鶩，爭相起價。Guangxu Yuanbao was one of the currencies circulating during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. 這枚湖北省造光緒元寶當二十文。此枚銅幣正面鑄有銘文，頂部鑄楷體“戶部”二字，珠圈內鐫“光緒元寶”四字，中心飾一八瓣花，底部鑄“當二十文”中文繁體。背面神龍紋路精美，如刀刻所成，鑄造工藝精湛，且有云海襯托，看上去彷彿是一幅神龍翱翔天際圖，栩栩如生。湖北省造光緒元寶作為近代錢幣中精美鑄幣之一，其風格獨特，文化內涵豐富。
