總經理負責企劃、組織、指導、控制、檢查日常操作，並通過部門經理與下屬主管檢查商業、工業、政府、防禦部門的主要功能。
GENERAL MANAGERS plan, organise, direct, control and review the day-to-day operations and major functions of commercial, industrial, government and defence organisations through departmental managers and subordinate executives.
ANZSCO 1112 總經理技能要求 Indicative Skill Level
大部分職業要求具有與學士學位或更高資格相當的技能水平。五年以上相關工作經驗可以代替正規資格要求。某些情況下，除了要求有正規資格還要求有相關經驗和在職培訓經歷。
（ANZSCO 1級水平）Most occupations in this unit group have a level of skill commensurate with a bachelor degree or higher qualification. At least five years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 1).
ANZSCO 1112 總經理主要職責 Tasks Include
- 為組織規劃政策，制定標準和目標 planning policy, and setting standards and objectives for organisations
- 為組織提供日常指導和管理，並提供指導和支持的政策來實現目標、完成特定目標且把利潤和效率增加到最大 providing day-to-day direction and management of organisations, and directing and endorsing policy to fulfil objectives, achieve specific goals, and maximise profit and efficiency
- 根據命令與指示評估下屬的相應變化情況。assessing changing situations and responding accordingly by issuing commands and directives to subordinate staff
- 同直接下屬和部門主管，針對操作方法、設備需求、財政、銷售、人力資源等問題進行商討 consulting with immediate subordinates and departmental heads on matters such as methods of operation, equipment requirements, finance, sales and human resources
- 授權重大政策基金的實施方案 authorising the funding of major policy implementation programs
- 代表組織出席官方場合、談判、例會、研討會、公開聽證會和論壇，並在責任區內進行聯絡。representing the organisation at official occasions, in negotiations, at conventions, seminars, public hearings and forums, and liaising between areas of responsibility
- 準備或安排編寫報告、預算方案並將其提交給理事會 preparing, or arranging for the preparation of, reports, budgets and forecasts, and presenting them to governing bodies
- 選拔並任命高級職員 selecting and managing the performance of senior staff
- 可能會擔部分或全部的會計、銷售、營銷、人力資源和其他專家的工作 may undertake responsibility for some or all of accounting, sales, marketing, human resources and other specialist operations
