【相同點】
1、that和which，在定語從句中都可以作主語、表語和賓語，先行詞都可以指代物。
2、that和which，作賓語時，都可以省略。
3、that和which，通常情況下，可以互換使用。
【不同點】
但有些情況下，that與which則不可以隨便互換。
一、只能用that，不能用which的情況。
1、先行詞是all，something，everything，anything，nothing，little，much，few等不定代詞或先行詞被all，any，every，no，little，much，some等詞修飾，通常只用that，不用which.
例句1：他做了能幫助我們的事。
He did everything that could help us.
例句2：今天有太多應該做的事情了。
There is so much that should be done now.
2、先行詞被序數詞、形容詞最高級、the only，the very，the last等修飾時，關係詞通常只用that，不用which.
例句1：這是我見過的最激動人心的足球比賽。
This is the most exciting football game that I have ever seen.
例句2：這是我們現在惟一能做的事情。
This is the only thing that we can do now.
3、先行詞既有人又有物時，關係代詞只用that，不用which.
例句：我想談論一下我所訪問過的國家和人民。
I want to talk about the countries and people that I have visited.
4、關係代詞在從句中作表語時，並帶有對比的含義，通常只用that，不用which.
例句：我們的學校不再是以前的那所學校了。
Our school is no longer the school that it used to be.
5、主句是以which開頭的特殊疑問句，只用that，不用which.
例句：哪輛是你丟的自行車？
Which is the bike that you lost?
二、只用which，不能用that的情況
1、在非限制性定語從句中。
例句：她輸了比賽，這使她很沮喪。
She lost the game, which depressed her.
2、定語從句中有一種結構：“介詞＋關係代詞”時，關係代詞必須用which.
例句：我們住的房子非常大。
The house in which we live is very large.
3、如果有兩個定語從句，其中前一個的關係代詞用that，後一個就要用which.
例句：我給你看一本我從新開的圖書館借的小說。
I want to show you the novel that I borrowed from the library which was newly open.
