1. It takes (sb. ) + 时间 + to do sth
这是表达“做某事需要花多少时间”常用的经典句型。从语法上讲，这个句式是用 it 作为形式主语，代替不定式（to do sh)。即真正的主语 to do sth 被后移了，相当于 To do sth takes sb....。下面举例如下：
It took us nearly a year to build this house. 我们花了将近一年的时间建造这座房子。
It only takes about 15 minutes to get to the station. 到车站只需要大约15分钟。
上面这个经典句式在使用上还有几种变化。
1) 可以不使用 it 作主语, 如:
I'm afraid your order will take quite a while to prepare. 你的订单恐怕需要很长时间准备。
2) 注意，提问时采用 how long, how many hours 等，如：
How long does it take us to get there? 到达那里需要多长时间？
如果只是问需要花多少时间，而没有说明“去做某事”，则只需说 How long would it take? 或 How long does it take?（“需要花多长时间？”）
3) 可以用否定，如：
It won't take you long to get there. 你不需要很长时间就能到达那里。
2. 除了使用上面提到的使用动词take的经典句式之外，还可以采用比较直白的方式来表达，如使用其他动词如need, spend, require 等。
1) need
The eyes need several minutes to adjust to the darkness. 眼睛需要几分钟来适应黑暗。
2) spend
He spent a lot of time (in) explaining his plan. 他花了很多时间解释他的方案。
How long did you spend on yesterday's homework? 你花了多长时间做昨天的作业？
3) require
These operations require about 5 to 7 hours. 这些操作大约需要5到7小时。
还可以用被动语态，如：
Only a portion of time is required for obtaining food. 只需要花一部分时间来获取食物。
