一．一般過去時的結構：
肯定句式: 主語+動詞過去式+其他
否定句式: 主語+（助動詞）didn’t +動詞原形+其他
一般疑問句式: Did+主語+動詞原形+其他
簡略回答: (肯)Yes,主語+did (否)No,主語+did not
例如：
陳述句：I was a big boss.He was beautiful.
We were in Beijing last year.
否定句: I was not at home at that moment.
We were not at work yesterday.
一般疑問句: Were you a teacher?
Was she in the office last week?
陳述句：I worked in Sunmoon.
We studied English there. He lived inHongKong.
否定句: I didn’t work here.
They didn’t see me. She liked English a lot.
一般疑問句: Did you go to America?
Did he work in Sunmoon?
二．一般過去時的用法:
1、一般過去時表示過去某一時刻或某一段時間裡所發生的動作或情況。常和表示過去的時間狀語常見的標誌性詞組有：yesterday, just now, the other day, in 1982, ago, an hour ago, long long ago, the day before yesterday, last week(year, night, month…), at the age of 5, one day, once upon a time等。
例如：Where did you go just now?
After a few years, she started to play the piano.
2、表示在過去，經常或反覆發生的動作。常與often,always等表示頻度的副詞連用。
例如：When I was a child, I often played football in the street.
我是個孩子的時候，常在馬路上踢足球。
3、一般過去式也可與today,this week,this month,this year等表現在的時間狀語連用，但這些時間狀語須指過去的時間，決不包含“現在”“此時此刻”的意思。
例如：Did you see him today?
今天你看見他了嗎？
