尚懷雲/生活禪時代
31 因如是果如是
公在普陀，遍觀寺剎。時十月潮湧大魚，留千步沙中，長數十丈眼如盆。漁人割腹，露小木舟兩雙，人髮飾物等若干。該魚蓋以橫行海濱，害人為因，受報為果。今被潮驅，或為龍王斬首示眾。
宣化偈曰：
金槍馬麥佛尚然，
吾公遇魚有妙玄。
如是因果如是報，
天網恢恢疏不偏。
Thus is the cause; thus is the effect
On P’u T’o Island, the Master extensively visited monasteries and temples. During the tenth month of that year, the tide washed up a huge fish, which was left in the sand a thousand paces from the water’s edge. It was hundreds of feet long, its eyes being as large as tubs. The fishermen cut open its belly to reveal two small wooden boats. There were also a number of hair ornaments among other personal effects. The fishe used to terrorize the coast, harming all creatures in sight. As a retribution for its misdeeds, it was washed ashore by the tide. Perhaps this was a gesture by the dragon king to serve as a warning to would-be offenders.
The verse says:
Receiving the Horse Feed and Spear retributions, even the Buddha was thus repaid.
Our Master Yun encountered a fish fraught with edifying mystery.
Such is the cause, such is the effect, such is the retribution.
The celestial net, all -embracing, spreads forth impartially.
32 潮音洞見金龍
又大潮來時，滔天波浪中，潮陽洞前來一龍，鱗甲金色，四足全身，及尾皆見，惟不見首，其尾似魚尾，久之乃沒。此龍之來，或知大德高僧蒞止，故而出現，以示迎迓，藉伸護敬永作衛靈。
宣化偈曰：
潮陽洞前見金龍，
全身金色四足清。
問爾為何來顯現，
只緣彼岸有至人。
Seeing a golden dragon at Ch’ao Yang Cave
Moreover, at that time , a golden -scaled dragon rose out of the tremendous breakers which swell from the sea in front of Ch’ao Yang cave. Although its entire body, four legs and fish-like tail were all visible, its head was not. After a while, it submerged. Perhaps this dragon appeared, sensing that a highly virtuous, eminent Sangha member had arrived, and came out to welcome him. It was an immortal guardian spirit who showed its respect by extending its protection.
The verse says:
Out in front of Ch’ao Yang Cave,he saw a golden dragon,
Its entire body of golden hue, its four legs in evidence.
Why indeed, I ask you, came this apparition?
Just because a sage now dwells on this shore.
