句子重音分语法重音与逻辑重音 。
根据语法结构特点而重读的叫语法重音，也叫“自然重音”，这些重读的音节在句中的位置基本是固定的。与语法重音相对的是逻辑重音，是为了突出语意重点或为了表达强烈感情而重读，并且不受语法结构的制约，在句中的位置也是不固定的。也叫“强调重音”。
1. 语法重音：
在句中没有特殊强调的词时，一般有句子重音的词是：名词、形容词、数词、主要动词、副词、指示代词、疑问代词等实词。
1.）名词（girl, student, cup, desk, newspaper, classroom 等）
Did the 'students 'see the 'teacher 'after the 'class? 学生们课后见到老师了吗？
2.）指示代词（this, that, these, those 等）
'That's what l 'told you. 这就是我告诉你的。
3.）形容词（strong, famous, small, pretty 等）
These 'new 'car are 'very 'pretty. 这些汽车很漂亮。
4.）数词（one, two, three, first, second, third 等）
'Two 'students 'got the 'first 'prize. 两名学生获得一等奖。
5.）主动词（like, see, play, sing, read 等）和动名词
l 'like 'swimming in the 'river. 我喜欢在河里游泳。
6.）副词（slowly, hard, very 等，关系副词 when, where 等除外）
The 'old 'woman is 'walking 'very 'slowly. 那位老太太正慢慢地走着。
7.）现在分词与过去分词（going, coming, written, broken 等）
'Looking 'out of the 'window, l 'saw my 'friend 'coming to 'see me. 朝窗外望去，我看见我的朋友正来看望我。
8.）疑问词（who, what, when, where, which, how 等）
'Who are you 'talking to? 你在和谁说话？
9.）感叹词（what, how, oh, ah 等）
'What a 'beautiful day! 多好的天气啊！
'Oh, is that 'true? 啊，是真的吗？
没有句子重音的词一般是：冠词、介词、连词、某些动词和代词等具有语法功能的结构词。
1.）人称代词（l, you, he, she, her, him, they 等）
l 'didn't 'give him 'anything. 我没有给他一点东西。
2.）冠词（a, an, the）
The'book on the 'table is a 'good one. 桌上的那本书很好。
3.）助动词与情态动词（shall, will, do, did, can, must 等）
l shall 'write him a 'lettle to'morrow. 我明天写信给他。
4.）代词所有格（my, your, his, her, their, our 等）
'This is my 'book and 'that is your 'pen. 这是我的书，那是你的钢笔。
5.）单音节连接词（and, but, so, or 等）
l 'asked him a 'question, but he 'didn't 'answer me. 我问了他一个问题而他却没有回答。
6.）单音节介词（in, at, from, on 等）
The 'children are 'playing in the 'garden. 孩子们在花园里玩。
7.）联系动词 be 与动词 have
l am a 'teacher, and you are a 'student. 我是个教师，你是个学生。
8.）关系代词和关系副词（who, where, that 等）
'This is the 'book that l 'bought 'yesterday. 这是我昨天买的书。
2. 逻辑重音：
人们在谈话中，为了表达自己的意图和某种情绪，对某些按语法规则本来没有句子重音的词重读，或者对某些有句子重音的词着重强调，就形成了事实上的“逻辑重音”。
1.）Are you 'angry with me? 你是跟我生气吗？
——Are you 'angry with 'me?
——Are 'you 'angry with me?
2.）Did you 'tell my 'wife? 你要告诉我妻子吗？
——Did you 'tell 'my wife?
——Did 'you 'tell my wife?
3.）We 'heard 'John 'talking. 我们听见约翰在谈话。
——We heard 'john talking.
——We heard John 'talking.
