美联储周日紧急宣布，将基准利率降至接近零水平，并启动规模达7000亿美元新一轮量化宽松，以应对COVID-19病毒对美国经济造成的影响。
据美国国家公共广播电台（NPR）报道，美联储表示，新冠肺炎疫情将在短期内影响经济活动，并对经济前景构成风险。为应对疫情的影响，美联储从15日起降息至0-0.25%，并推出7000亿美元规模的量化宽松计划。
"The effects of the coronavirus will weigh on economic activity in the near term and pose risks to the economic outlook," the Fed said in a statement announcing the moves Sunday. "In light of these developments, the [Federal Open Market] Committee decided to lower the target range for the federal funds rate to 0 to 1/4 percent."
The Fed also announced plans to buy $700 billion in government securities.

The Fed said Sunday it would hold rates steady near zero until it is confident that the US economy pulls out of the coronavirus-fueled economic quagmire.
此外，在未来几个月，美联储还将增加5000亿美元的美国国债和2000亿美元的机构支持抵押贷款证券。
It said it will boost its holdings of Treasurys by at least $500 billion and its holdings of agency mortgage-backed securities by at least $200 billion in coming months.
另据美国有线电视新闻网（CNN）报道，特朗普在白宫防控疫情工作专班汇报会上说：“这让我很开心。我想向联邦储备委员会表示祝贺。这对国家来说是个好事情。”
"It makes me very happy, Trump said in a surprise appearance in the White House briefing room. "And I want to congratulate the Federal Reserve."
"That's really great for our country," Trump proclaimed.
美国约翰斯·霍普金斯大学发布的数据显示，截至美国东部时间15日14时30分，美国累计新冠肺炎确诊病例3244例，死亡62例。
