西外君的外教老師曾讓我們分享自己的週末，有一個小夥伴說道：
“I visited my friend and slept together”
這是外教老師露出了
還問到
“Are you and your friends girls?”
那小夥伴說“Yes”
我們都一臉懵逼
這時外教老師說 "sleep together"可不能亂用
sleep together
"sleep together" 是“發生性關係；通姦”的委婉語。
所以外教老師誤會那位小夥伴是。。。
如果我們要表達和同性朋友單純地睡同一間房，我們可以說 We share the same room. orWe spend the night together.
不要亂用sleep togethter，當然了特殊情況除外。
EG:
So you two haven't slept together,huh?
你們倆還沒睡過吧？
Uh,all right,yes,we were sleeping together.
是的，我們上過床。
put to sleep
一共有三個意思：
1、使某人安眠
2、使人/動物失去知覺；使麻醉
3、以人道方法殺死動物（安樂死）
EG：
Do I just put people to sleep?
我的話無聊到讓人想睡覺？
Am I putting you to sleep?
是我催眠你了嗎？
When your dog gets old,you can have it put to sleep.
當你的狗變老的時候，你可以把它安樂死。
forget food and sleep
直接翻譯是“忘記了吃飯和睡覺”，而中文裡正好有個成語“廢寢忘食 ”可以對應。
EG：
The novel was so absorbing that she read on without a break even
forgetting food and sleep.
這本小說太引人入勝了，她一口氣讀了下去，甚至廢寢忘食。
beauty sleep
beauty sleep是“午夜前的酣睡，上半夜的睡眠”。
12點前睡，身體得到充分的休息，人也會更美。
因此也可以稱為“美容覺”。
EG：
Good night,I must get my beauty sleep.
再見吧，我得去睡個美容覺。
I went to bad late last night and missed my beauty sleep.
昨晚我很晚才睡，錯過了上半夜的睡眠。
sleep over
sleep over難道是“睡完了”?No.No.
它的真實意思是“借宿別人處，忽視，不注意”
需要注意的是，sleep-over意思：睡過頭
EG：
So do you want to sleep over?
你今晚想留在我家過夜嗎？
I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
我不會為此感到愧疚不安的。
sleep on it
sleep on it是“把問題留在第二天解決，考慮一下”
EG：
Maybe we should all just sleep on it.
或許我們該睡一覺，明天再決定。
I'm going to sleep on it.
這事明天再說。
Well,Feifei,I'll have to sleep on it.
菲菲，我要好好考慮一下。
