隕鐵，鐵隕石ironmeteorite，主要成份為鐵、鎳的隕石。主要由鐵紋石和鎳紋石兩種礦物組成，其次含有少量的石墨、隕磷鐵鎳礦、隕硫鉻礦、隕碳鐵、鉻鐵礦和隕硫鐵等。在化學成分上除Ni和Fe外，還含有Co、S、P、Cu、Cr、Ga、Ge和Ir等元素。有少數鐵隕石還含有硅酸鹽包體。鐵隕石的分類主要根據Ni、Ga、Ge和Ir的含量及其構造特徵，分為13個群。

組成結構：
1、Ni含量約6～14%的鐵隕石,具有由鐵紋石和鎳紋石片晶構成的圖像，這種圖像稱為 維斯臺登構造。80%以上的鐵隕石都具有這種圖像，鐵紋石和鎳紋石片晶呈八面體排列的鐵隕石，命名為八面體鐵隕石。2、Ni含量約低於6%的鐵隕石，沒有維斯臺登構造,主要是大的鐵紋石單晶體，這些鐵隕石具六面體解理，稱為六面體鐵隕石。3、當Ni含量約超過14%時，細粒八面體鐵隕石的維斯臺登構造消失，只能見到細粒鐵紋石和鎳紋石呈角礫斑雜狀的交生現象。4、當Ni含量達25～65%時，形成無結構的鐵隕石，這種隕石主要由鎳紋石組成，含有一些小的鐵紋石包體和少許其他的礦物。大多數鐵隕石都顯示衝擊效應的特徵。
Composition structure:
1. Iron meteorites with Ni content of about 6 - 14 % have an image composed of iron grains and taenite lamellae, and this image is called the Visteon structure. More than 80 % of iron meteorites have such images. Iron meteorites with octahedral arrangement of iron grains and taenite schists are named octahedral iron meteorites. 2. Iron meteorites with Ni content of less than 6 % have no Visteon structure and are mainly large single crystals of iron grains. These iron meteorites have hexahedron cleavage and are called hexahedron iron meteorites. 3. When the Ni content exceeds about 14 %, the Visteon structure of the fine-grained octahedron iron meteorite disappears, and only the intersection of fine-grained iron grain stone and taenite in the form of breccia porphyry can be seen. 4. When Ni content reaches 25 ~ 65 %, an unstructured iron meteorite is formed, which is mainly composed of taenite and contains some small inclusions of iron grains and a few other minerals. Most iron meteorites show the characteristics of impact effect.
