3月21日，國家主席習近平開啟新年首訪，第一站來到意大利。意大利經濟發展部副部長、寧波諾丁漢大學金融學教授米凱萊·傑拉奇(Michele Geraci)作為意方代表出席多個論壇活動。

根據CGTN(中國國際電視臺)的報道，意大利加入“一帶一路”倡議的主要推動者正是米凱萊·傑拉奇，他是起草“一帶一路”合作諒解備忘錄的主要官員之一。
《新聞聯播》：傑拉奇教授表達對此次訪問的期待
作為研究中國和亞洲經濟的資深專家，傑拉奇曾在中國工作和生活過10年。數月前，在部長和教授身份之外，他又有了一個新身份：“中國任務小組”協調人。
2018年10月，為加強並擴大意中兩國在貿易、金融、投資、研發等領域以及在第三國的合作，特別是在“一帶一路”框架下的合作，意大利政府專門成立跨部門機構“中國任務小組”。
米凱萊 · 傑拉奇說，“‘一帶一路’倡議將讓我們搭上發展合作的快車，歐洲與中國開展貿易合作的意願已經越來越強烈。”
會說五國語言的“中國通”

米凱萊·傑拉奇教授在美國麻省理工大學斯隆管理學院獲得MBA學位，精通五國語言。
他是董事總經理級別的投資銀行家，過去20年中曾在歐洲、拉丁美洲、亞洲等地開展企業諮詢、金融等業務，具有豐富的國際經驗。
傑拉奇教授2012年加入寧波諾丁漢大學。他經常做客有關中國經濟發展的媒體談話節目，接受過中央電視臺CCTV、意大利媒體Rai、英國廣播公司BBC的採訪，也是《中國日報》和《財新網》的專欄作家，定期發表與中國經濟密切相關的觀點性文章。
憑藉對中國經濟的深入研究和強有力的媒體影響力，傑拉奇教授曾兩次被意大利媒體評選為在中國最有影響力的50位意大利人之一，並榮獲2016意大利之星騎士勳章。

說起米凱萊·傑拉奇教授，選過他課的學生，都感覺“心情複雜”。傑拉奇教授在學習上對學生要求非常嚴格，說話也很直接，經常一針見血。如果上課時你說自己聽不懂英文，他會用中文字正腔圓地懟你：“那你為什麼來寧波諾丁漢大學讀書？”
傑拉奇教授正披著絲巾上課，一是因為他超級喜歡中國絲巾，二也是為了吸引學生的注意力。
傑拉奇教授的課掛科率很高，每一個選他課的學生都是知道的。商學院研究生張雨軒在上完傑拉奇教授主講的“固定收益”後說：“這門課很難的，比其他的課要難上10倍，我看過他以前出的考題，心裡已經很慌了。不是考死記硬背的東西，而是結合實際來考，平時如果偷懶在課堂沒認真聽，估計是要掛科的。”
張雨軒覺得，傑拉奇是一位真正的好教授，他就是想通過這樣的考試來了解學生的真實水平。
平時上課他也是這樣要求我們的。
比如他在課上經常說，你們以後去投資銀行、諮詢公司工作，上級會交給你們任務，如果你們要準備很長時間，他馬上就會失去對你的關注。所以，今天我教給你們的東西要儘快消化，晚上八點之前把作業做好發給我。
不過，學生還是超級喜歡他。在畢業的時候，學生們會排著隊找他合影，有人還特意設計了印有他頭像的T恤作為紀念。

同為意大利籍的寧諾經濟學助理教授保羅·比安奇(Paolo Bianchi)說，傑拉奇教授熱情洋溢、工作高效，是學校最受學生歡迎的老師之一。“他對中國和中國文化的熱情也讓我對他十分欽佩。”
目前，寧諾共有13位意大利籍老師，來自人文社科、商學院、理工三大學院和英語語言教學中心。與傑拉奇教授同樣來自意大利南部的寧諾經濟學教授保羅·埃皮法尼(Paolo Epifani)說，“我相信傑拉奇教授作為意大利經濟發展部副部長，將為中意友好關係和經濟合作作出重大貢獻。”

The Italian government believes joining China's Belt and Road Initiative will boost its sluggish economy. Professor Michele Geraci is one of the key officials drafting the framework and helped pushing the Memorandum of Understanding (CGTN).
Michele Geraci has been living in China since 2008 and joined UNNC in 2012. He is Professor of Practice in Finance at UNNC (on leave), and was appointed as the Under-Secretary of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development responsible for international trade and investment in June 2018.
Michele Geraci obtained an MBA degree at MIT and speaks 5 foreign languages including Mandarin. He provides guidance to governments, corporations and investors, offering practical-oriented policy recommendations and investment advice.
Besides, Michele is a frequent guest speaker at conferences and forums, a frequent host of TV shows (CCTV, Rai,TGCom, Al-Jazeera, Sky), and is a regular contributor to China Dailyop-ed and a columnist for Caixin Magazine and IlSole24Ore/Radiocor.
Michele has been voted for four years in a row one of the top 50 Italian experts on Chinese matters by Milano Finanza; and in 2016, he has been awarded the title of Knight of the Order of the Star ofItaly (Cavaliere dell’Ordine Della Stella D’Italia) by President of Italian Republic, Mattarella, one of Italy’s highest honours.
In class, Michele’s extensive consulting and research experience in Europe, Latin America and Asia over the past 20 years have impressed his students.
One of his students said about him: “His teaching approach is unique and what he taught me went beyond the text books, which made my experience at UNNC more valuable.” He is so popular among his students that some have even designed t-shirts and cakes featuring his profile.
“One thing I admire about him is his passion for his subject and the success in transmitting his passion and knowledge to students - that made him one of our most popular and effective teachers,” said Paolo Bianchi, Professor Geraci’s colleague. “Another is his passion for China and Chinese culture, working to introduce and explain China to the rest of the world rather taking a confrontational attitude.”
Paolo Epifani, another Italian colleague at UNNC said: “I am absolutely sure that he will do extremely well in his new role at Italian government and that he will contribute to give a serious significant impetus to the Sino-Italian friendship.
