The power of a father's love
Chen Chunren, 41, is a known writer of adventure books in Xinyang, Henan.
Believe it or not, although he loves writing, he never dreamed he would become a writer one day. It is his daughter that gave him every reason to keep writing, and finally, made his dream a reality.
Chen dived into writing adventure novels five years ago. At that time, his daughter, a third grader, fell in love with adventure books and read faster than he could afford to buy her books. To satisfy his daughter's needs, the father decided to take matters into his own hands. "I used to go out traveling often. I had adventures myself and heard great adventure stories from others too, so the materials were not a problem for me. Meanwhile, I read one of my daughter's favorite books and felt like I myself could write books like that," he said.
So far Chen has finished 26 adventure novels and 8 of them have been published. Every day he writes during his lunch break and in the evening. The hard-working dad doesn't remember how many times he forgot to have dinner and caught some Z's in front of the computer screen. It gives him a lot of comfort that his daughter plays an active part in the creation of his stories — giving him suggestions on their plots and characters now and then.
Chen said his biggest dream is to see his books in every bookstore that his daughter visits. The great father truly believes it's a dream worth dreaming.
