premise 美 [ˈpremɪs]: a statement or idea that you accept as true and use as a base for developing other ideas 前提

irredeemable 美 [,ɪrɪ'diməbl]: too bad to be corrected, repaired, or saved 〔因太糟而〕不能纠正的；无法补救的；不可救药的；
jumble: a lot of different things mixed together in an untidy way, without any order 混乱的一团，杂乱的一堆
"The jumble of information does not reveal a perfectly clear picture." （该报告信息繁杂，并未展现出一幅完美的清晰图景）----《经济学人----国际》

tough but fair 字面直译是严厉但是公平，让人难以接受但是合理的，也就是我们的古话忠言逆耳了。
expression: a word or group of words with a particular meaning 词；词组；措辞
"That doesn't meaning anything. It's just an expression." （这话根本没啥意义，只是种说法）----美剧《破产姐妹》
