8月6日下午4點，上海當代藝術館特別項目《敦煌印象系列——天外之天》在藝術亭臺開幕，當代藝術家毛進受邀參與此次展覽，並帶來了她以敦煌藻井圖案為靈感創作的作品《方系列》。
Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai held the opening ceremony of the current pavillon exhibition ‘Dunhuang Impression----Beyond the Sky’ on Aug 6th, 4pm. We invited Contemporary artist Jin MAO to bring her oil painting series ‘Square’ for the exhibition, which was inspired by the Dunhuang Caisson Patterns.

MoCA君：為什麼選擇敦煌藻井作為您藝術創作的靈感來源？
MoCA：Why did you choose the Dunhuang Caisson pattern designs as your inspiration for this series?
毛進：敦煌壁畫是藝術工作者的朝聖之地，多年來一直由衷的喜歡，也多次去膜拜，2006年開始學習研究敦煌壁畫藻井裡面的元素，想都不敢想把它作為自己的創作元素，在時間累積過程中很自然的成為了創作靈感，欣喜若狂。
JinMao：The Dunhuang mural is the destination of ‘spiritual pilgrimage’ for many artists. I have had a genuine passion for this destination, and had the opportunity to admire the art in person on several occasions. In 2006, I began to study the artistic and graphic elements employed in the caisson designs of the Dunhuang grottoes. I never once imagined that I would able to apply these designs in my own creative work, but after some time those elements began to be naturally integrated in my works; I was ecstatic.
MoCA君：通過這個系列的作品希望傳達什麼？
MoCA：What do you wish to convey through this series?
毛進：如果能夠讓觀者感覺到愉悅、美好和謙卑，那我會惶恐和興奮。
JinMao：If I can inspire a sense of pleasure, beauty, and humility within the audience through my work then I would be so flattered and exhilarated.

MoCA君：在《方系列》的創作過程中遇到過什麼記憶深刻的故事？
MoCA：What is a memorable moment during the creation of the ‘Square Series’?
毛進：創作初期得到了老師極大的鼓勵。
JinMao：I received a lot of encouragement and support from my mentor at the early stages of this series.

MoCA君：《方系列》與敦煌藻井有什麼相同和不同之處？
MoCA：How are the works in the ‘Square Series’ different from or similar to the Caisson pattern designs at the Dunhuang grottoes?
毛進：首先不能同日而語做比較，我只是在學習敦煌藻井古代壁畫，方系列是通過學習中得來的。古代壁畫我認為是藝術工作者的希望之光，對我更是。
JinMao：First of all, the two cannot be compared. I am merely learning from the Caisson patternsand the Dunhuang murals, and the ‘Square Series’ is derived from this learning process. I understand the ancient Dunhuang murals as the ‘light ofhope’ for many artists, myself included.
MoCA君：是否還會繼續關於敦煌的相關創作？
MoCA：Will you continue creating and learning about the relevant works of Dunhuang?
毛進：這是很自然的，敦煌壁畫會是我一直學習的方向，不會刻意的把它當成創作元素，如果能繼續，榮幸之至。
JinMao：Yes, of course. Dunhuang Mural will be the direction I keep learning all the time. And it will not be deliberately regarded as a creative element, is my pleasuer to keep learning from it.

藝術家簡介
毛進，1971年出生於湖南湘潭，2001年畢業於南京藝術學院油畫專業，獲碩士學位，現居南京，任教於南京師範大學新聞傳播學院。代表作品《室內系列》《人物系列》《動物系列》《方系列》《致敬系列》。
Born in 1971, Xiangtan Hunan Province. Jin graduated from the Nanjing University of the Arts with a masters degree in oil painting in 2001. She now resides in Nanjing and lectures at the school of Journalism and Communication at NNU (Nanking Normal University). Some of her famous works are the 'Interior Series,' 'Humans Series,' 'Animal Series,''Square Series,' and the 'Tribute Series.'
