在英語裡，單詞 “neglect、omit” 和 “ignore” 都和 “疏忽” 有關，但在這三個詞語中，哪個能用來強調 “故意不理睬”？哪個能用來強調 “不小心忽視、疏忽”？而又是哪個詞語能指 “有意或無意地疏漏” 呢？我們來看一段小故事。

小劉在出版社工作。她負責編輯書籍並確保稿件在出版前沒有遺漏任何內容。小劉這周太忙了，以至於她昨天忘了帶她的狗汪汪出門散步。為了防止自己再次疏於照看狗，她託朋友小馬替她看狗。但小馬根本沒有負責任地照顧汪汪。每當小狗想要玩耍的時候，他總是不予理睬，而且他從來不按時餵狗！
在剛剛這個小故事中，動詞 “neglect” 共出現了兩次：“She neglected to walk her dog Wangwang. ” 和 “To avoid neglecting him again, she asked her friend Xiao Ma to take care of him for her.” “Neglect” 在這兩處的含義相同，都表示 “疏忽，忽略”，強調因不關心或忘記而沒能照顧好某人或某事。“Neglect to do something” 的意思就是 “忘記做某事”；“neglect” 也可以直接加名詞，表示 “疏於照看”。比如，家長可能會因疏於照看孩子而被起訴。
Parents can be charged for neglecting their children. 家長可能會因疏於照看孩子而被起訴。
再比如，忘記交換電話號碼而聯繫不到對方。
We neglected to exchange numbers – now we can’t contact each other. 我們忘記交換電話號碼了。現在我們聯繫不到對方。
雖然 “ignore” 也有 “忽視” 的意思，但和 “neglect” 不同的是，“ignore” 用來表示 “明明知道卻有意識地無視”。比如，小馬明知道小狗汪汪想要玩耍，卻對它不予理睬，這裡，“不予理睬” 就應該使用 “ignore”：He keeps ignoring the dog whenever he wants to play and never feeds him on time! 再來看單詞 “ignore” 的幾個常用方法。首先，告訴他人別無視你的存在。
Don’t ignore me while I’m talking to you! 我和你說話呢，別無視我！
再比如，告訴他人對詐騙郵件不予理睬。
A: I’ve got an email saying that my brother is in trouble and needs some money urgently. “我收到了一封郵件說我哥哥出事兒了，急需錢。”
B: That’s got to be a scam. Just ignore it! “肯定是詐騙。不要理它！”
注意，“ignore” 是及物動詞，後面應直接加 “所無視的對象”。比如，“ignore me”。
最後，我們來看 “omit”。“Omit” 這個詞語相對要正式一點，它表示 “有意或無心地漏掉、疏漏”。比如，小劉的工作是確認稿件裡沒有遺漏內容：She edits books and makes sure nothing is omitted from the>
