英語中說到節日或生日快樂都是用“happy”而聖誕祝福中卻會用“merry”，這個用法有什麼由來？我們一起來看一下
18世紀狄更斯的小說A Christmas Carol《聖誕頌歌》非常火爆，裡面多次使用 Merry Christmas，後來被商家發現商機瘋狂炒作，從此Merry Christmas便流行起來，被人們廣泛使用。雖然happy和merry都是快樂的意思，但兩者的含義有所差別：“happy”表示一種情緒，而“merry”是一種行為。比如英語中有一種說法：Eat drink and be merry. 盡情吃、喝、玩樂吧。
