go out [ɡoʊ aʊt]
1 外出交際;與…交往;與…談戀愛（或有性關係）
在美國文化裡，男女之間要多次約會，確定雙方是合適的人之後，才會正式確定這段關係，而在這種曖昧期的約會就可以用go out，相當於低配版的date！
Will you go out with me?
你願意不願意和我約會？
You're going out with the guy!
你和這個傢伙在約會。
They've only been going out for six weeks.
他們相戀才6周時間。
Hang out 的用法不限定於男女朋友之間，指的就是好朋友約一起打發時間， 如出外踏青, 或是在家一起看場球賽都可以叫 hang out。
如果你單純想表達“明天要和某某出去玩”，特別是和異性朋友出去玩的時候，就要用hang out，才不會引起歧義！
2 外出娛樂
It will be a marvellous occasion and they should go out and enjoy it.
這是個好時機，他們應該出去痛快地玩一玩。
marvellous [ˈmɑːrvələs] adj 極好的,非凡的
go out 沒有“滾出去”的意思，表達“滾出去”意思的是【get out】。
3 刻意; 故意
You do not go out to injure opponents...
你並非蓄意傷害對手。
4 （燈） 熄滅; （燃燒物） 熄滅
The bedroom light went out after a moment.
臥室裡的燈過了一會兒就滅了。
The fire seemed to be going out.
火看起來快滅了。
5 （消息） 被宣佈，被髮表，被傳播
Word went out that columns of military vehicles appearing on the streets
有消息說幾隊軍用車輛出現在街頭。
6（電視或廣播節目） 播出
The series goes out at 10.30pm, Fridays, on Channel 4.
這部連續劇每週五晚上10點30分在第4頻道播出。
7（潮水） 退去
The tide was going out.
正在退潮。
8 我十分同情他/ 她
My heart goes out to Amy and her fatherless children.
我十分同情埃米和她那些失去了父親的孩子們。
