那這一期，我們來講講早餐會吃到的果醬jam相關的詞組，在口語中，最常見的搭配就是traffic jam（交通堵塞），非常形象，汽車都堵成一團果醬啦。那jam還有啥用法？
1）Jam tomorrow
Jam tomorrow是“明天的果醬”嗎？但你永遠吃不到它，為什麼？
這個表達來源於一個叫做“Through the Looking Glass”的兒童故事，有一位“紅皇后”說：“The rule is jam tomorrow and jam yesterday，but never jam today”，意思是明天有果醬，昨天有果醬，但今天永遠不會有果醬，意味著你永遠都無法享用到果醬。
因此，jam tomorrow意思是許諾但永不兌現的東西，可望而不可及的事物。
英語例句：
① The Company’s big plan for employee welfare is actually no more than jam tomorrow.
公司制定的員工福利計劃其實只不過是永遠都不會兌現的承諾罷了。
② I am really tired of those promises of jam tomorrow！
我受夠了那些永遠都不會兌現的承諾了！
2）Be in a jam
Jam的名詞意思裡還有“困境”的含義，所以be in a jam表示處於困境或麻煩中。
回顧一下，相同意思的詞組還有in a hole，in hot water，in a hot seat，in the soup以及high and dry，全部都是處境艱難的意思。
英語例句：
① I am in a jam—I accidentally lost my key and it is 11 pm！
我麻煩大了——我不小心鑰匙掉了，現在可是晚上十一點啊！
② We are in a jam now because the hotel has no any rooms available！
我們現在處境艱難，因為酒店沒有任何的空房了！
3）Money for jam
Money for jam means a very quick and easy way to earn money，也就是用一種很快速又容易的方法賺到錢。
因此，money for jam意思是指容易賺錢的便宜事兒，不費吹灰之力的又能賺錢的事，有時候也寫做money for old rope。
英語例句：
① - I will get paid to stay in my neighbours’house while they are on holiday.
- Wow，that will be money for jam!
- 我鄰居去度假時，他們付錢讓我住到他們家裡去。
- 哇，那真是不費吹灰之力就把錢賺了啊！
② I love working in the park，so this job will be money for jam.
我喜歡在公園裡工作，所以這份工作對我來說不費吹灰之力。
