那这一期，我们来讲讲早餐会吃到的果酱jam相关的词组，在口语中，最常见的搭配就是traffic jam（交通堵塞），非常形象，汽车都堵成一团果酱啦。那jam还有啥用法？
1）Jam tomorrow
Jam tomorrow是“明天的果酱”吗？但你永远吃不到它，为什么？
这个表达来源于一个叫做“Through the Looking Glass”的儿童故事，有一位“红皇后”说：“The rule is jam tomorrow and jam yesterday，but never jam today”，意思是明天有果酱，昨天有果酱，但今天永远不会有果酱，意味着你永远都无法享用到果酱。
因此，jam tomorrow意思是许诺但永不兑现的东西，可望而不可及的事物。
英语例句：
① The Company’s big plan for employee welfare is actually no more than jam tomorrow.
公司制定的员工福利计划其实只不过是永远都不会兑现的承诺罢了。
② I am really tired of those promises of jam tomorrow！
我受够了那些永远都不会兑现的承诺了！
2）Be in a jam
Jam的名词意思里还有“困境”的含义，所以be in a jam表示处于困境或麻烦中。
回顾一下，相同意思的词组还有in a hole，in hot water，in a hot seat，in the soup以及high and dry，全部都是处境艰难的意思。
英语例句：
① I am in a jam—I accidentally lost my key and it is 11 pm！
我麻烦大了——我不小心钥匙掉了，现在可是晚上十一点啊！
② We are in a jam now because the hotel has no any rooms available！
我们现在处境艰难，因为酒店没有任何的空房了！
3）Money for jam
Money for jam means a very quick and easy way to earn money，也就是用一种很快速又容易的方法赚到钱。
因此，money for jam意思是指容易赚钱的便宜事儿，不费吹灰之力的又能赚钱的事，有时候也写做money for old rope。
英语例句：
① - I will get paid to stay in my neighbours’house while they are on holiday.
- Wow，that will be money for jam!
- 我邻居去度假时，他们付钱让我住到他们家里去。
