英語中不定冠詞a/an 與 one很多時候是可以通用的，但有些時候代表的含義卻大相徑庭，今天就一起來看看a/an 與 one的用法區別。
1. at a time與at one time
The ship fetched 100 people at a time.
這條船每次能運送100人。（每次，一次）
It used to be a very pretty vallay at one time.
這裡曾經是一處非常美麗的山谷。（從前，曾經，一度）
類似的短語還有：
as one man 眾人一致地
as a man 就其性格而論
在表示與別的事物相對照時，一般用one，不用a/n；與the 連用時，只用one，不用a/an；
One man's meat is another man’s poison.
利甲者未必利乙。
2. more than a year 不同於more than one year
It will take more than a year to build the school.
修這所學校需要一年的時間。（意指一年以上、兩年以下）
It will take more than one year to build the school.
修這所學校需要不止一年的時間。（不止一年，可能兩年、三年）
3.“ 在so/as/too/how+形容詞”結構中表示強調或比較，a/an 不能與one 互換。
They have not so cold a day as this for many years.
他們已經很多年沒遇到這麼寒冷的一天了。
4.“a/an+名詞+of+a/an + 名詞”是一種固定結構，前面的名詞表示的是後面名詞的性質或特徵，意思為“像……一樣的，是屬於某一類的”，這種結構中，不能用one；
a mountain of a wave 滔天巨浪
a palace of a house 宮殿般的宅邸
a bull of a man 壯如公牛的男人
a honey of an idea 絕妙的主意
an angel of a girl 天使般的女孩
a chit of a girl 黃毛丫頭
a lamb of a temper 羔羊般的脾氣
a rascal of a fellow 無賴之徒
a treasure of a son 寶貝兒子
a horror of a woman 可怕的女人
說明：這種結構中第一個名詞前也可以用形容詞，形容詞性物主代詞，the, this, that, these, one, those, some等;有時候，第二個名詞前可加形容詞；第二個名詞還可以用複數形式。
this slip of a boy 這個瘦高的男孩
a curved beak of a nose 鷹鉤鼻子
a great moon of a face 大圓臉
the hell of a mistake 大錯特錯
this beast of a man 這個討厭的人
5. turn writer 還是turn a writer；
當turn 和 go 作“變成”解時，其後用做表語的單數可數名詞前不用定冠詞。
Sha turned writer in 2019.
她2019年當了作家。
6. 在數學運算中，只能用one；表示“其中之一，第一”時只能用one；在某些諺語或固定單配中只能用one；
Once one is one. 一乘以一等於一。
One of the best ways to keep friends is to return it.
交友的秘籍之一就是禮尚往來。
with one voice 異口同聲
one last time 最後一次
one at a time 一次一個
One hand washes another.有來有往
One swallow does not make a summer.
一燕不成夏。
7.half與冠詞搭配使用時有不同的用法
half+a/an+名詞的表達方式英美通用，但美式英語也常把a放在half前；
half a bottle=a half bottle 半瓶
half a mile= a half mile 半里地
half作形容詞常用的結構為half+a/an/the+名詞；
half作名詞常用的結構為half of+a/an/the+名詞；
half one‘s pay= half of one‘s pay 一半的報酬
8. one 用做代詞相當於“a person”時，不用a/an;
The officer is one who gives orders.
長官是發號施令的人。
