一、强调句型的构成

强调句型：It+be+被强调部分+ that/who+句子其它部分构成，其中被强调部分可以是句子的主语，宾语，状语，等。

1、强调主语

强调句：It is TV that gives me something that I am interested in.

非强调句：TV gives me something that I am interested in.

2、强调宾语

强调句：It is a better way that they are looking for to cut down the cost.

非强调句：They are looking for a better way to cut down the cost.

3、强调状语

强调句：It was in the hotel where I stayed that I caught sight of the criminal yesterday.

非强调句：I caught sight of the criminal yesterday in the hotel where I stayed

二、强调句型的判断

学生容易把强调句型与从句搞混淆，判断句子是否为真正的强调句型可能采取复原法，即把功能性词，it,be,that都去掉，再看剩下被强调部分是否能成为被强调部分。比如，It was the ability to do the job that matters not where you come from or what you are. 我们先把这个句子结构性词都去掉后为：matters not where you come from or what you are. 显然这个句子缺少主语，刚好被强调部分the ability to do the job可以做这个句子的主语，因此这个句子是强调句型。但也有的句子貌似强调句型，实则不是强调句型的题比如，It was the school gate __________ I met an old friend of mine.我们采用复原法把结构词都去掉后变为：the school gate I met an old friend of mine the school gate，the school gate为名词短语，不是句子的状语， 因此本句不是强调句型，而是定语从句，应填 where才正确。如果在the school gate前加上介词at，就可以做状语，是强调句型，应填 that。
