近日，特朗普宣佈停繳世界衛生組織會費，繼而指責世衛組織“隱瞞疫情”，“未能及時透明地公開信息”（failing to “share information in a timely and transparent fashion”）。
對於美國政府的“甩鍋”，世衛組織回擊稱，美國疾控中心一直有員工在世衛組織借調工作，信息都是公開的，世衛組織從來沒有對美國隱瞞任何信息。
世衛組織衛生緊急項目負責人邁克爾·瑞安在20日的發佈會上說：
Some 15 staff from the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have been seconded to the UN agency since Jan 1, joining two US government officials assigned there long term.
從1月1日起，有15名美國政府借調員工在世衛組織工作，此外還有兩名來自美國政府的長期借調員工。
世衛組織總幹事譚德塞（Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus）說，這意味著，從第一天起，世衛組織對美國就沒有隱瞞過任何信息（there is nothing hidden from the US, from day one）。
譚德塞說，世衛組織沒有秘密，因為事關生命：
"There is no secret in WHO because keeping things confidential or secret is dangerous... because it's about lives, and even a single life is very precious."“世衛組織沒有秘密，因為隱瞞信息很危險，因為事關生命，每一個生命都很寶貴。”
外媒：特朗普撒了一個可怕的謊
特朗普不光“甩鍋”世衛組織並停繳會費，還稱世衛組織是“中國的工具”（a “tool of China” ），並傳播起了陰謀論：
He... floated the vile conspiracy theory that the WHO deliberately concealed the danger of the virus: “There’s something going on” at the WHO “that’s very bad,” and "I have a feeling they knew exactly what was going on.”
他散播著惡毒的陰謀論，妄稱世衛組織故意隱瞞了病毒的危險性：世衛組織“肯定有鬼”，“糟糕透了”，“我有一種感覺，他們對現在發生的事情一清二楚。”
《華盛頓郵報》18日發表的評論文章稱，這不僅僅是不實之言，更是一個遭天譴的謀害人命的謊言（This is not merely a falsehood. This is a damnable and murderous lie）。
▌世衛組織知道的一切，美國政府都知道
該文作者通過知情者瞭解到的信息，印證了世衛組織在發佈會上所說的話：美國政府有15名官員在世衛組織日內瓦總部工作，從12月31日起就和該組織就中國出現的疫情開展密切合作。
世衛組織內部還有六名美國官員，他們的大部分精力也放在這次疫情上。此外，還有兩名美國官員與世衛組織遠程協作，全職研究新冠肺炎疫情。

作者評論稱，特朗普的登頂之路鋪滿了對他人的汙衊和詆譭——針對對手的、移民的、少數族裔的（Trump came to power on the basis of smears） 。
