Piers Morgan has apologised to Lady Gaga for criticising her One World: Together At Homeconcert – which has raised $127.9m (£102.3m) for coronavirus relief.

The charity benefit, organised by Global Citizen, featured a host of stars performing their hits online while in self-isolation in support of the World Health Organization (WHO).

And while Morgan was sceptical about the project and the Poker Face singer’s involvement, it appears he has been won over by the effort made and the amount of money raised.

Gaga last night quoted Global Citizen’s tweet stating the amount it raised, saying: “I am so humbled to have been a part of this project. Thank you @GlblCtzn. Thank you @WHO. I love you.”

谢谢你@WHO。

Quoting her tweet, Morgan admitted he was wrong and offered his congratulations. He said: “I owe you an apology @ladygaga – this was a great initiative that raised a fortune, entertained people, & will help save lives.

“It was also a perfect illustration of a major star using their profile properly in this crisis. Congrats & sorry for originally questioning it.”

Gaga was a guest at the WHO’s coronavirus press conference announcing the concert on 6 April, which didn’t sit right with Morgan.

He tweeted: “Why? Has she found a cure? Otherwise, we don’t need a bloody singer there.”
