甜白是永樂窯創燒的一種白釉。由於永樂白白瓷製品中許多都薄到半脫胎的程度,能夠光照見影。在釉暗花刻紋的薄胎器面上,施以溫潤如玉的白釉,便給人以一種“甜”的感受,故名“甜白”。尤其是脫胎製作工藝極其複雜,大約需要幾十道工序。甜白釉釉極瑩潤,能照見人影,比樞府窯卵白釉有更加明顯的乳濁感,給人以溫柔甜淨之感,所以又稱“蔥根白”,素有“白如凝脂,素猶積雪”之譽。
