江南省設於清朝順治二年(1645年)，省府位於江寧(現在的上海)。清代的江南省前身是明朝的南直隸江南省，範圍大致相當於今天的江蘇省、上海市和安徽省。康熙六年(1667年)清廷撤江南省，分設江蘇和安徽兩個省。上海造幣廠將其鑄造的銀幣標明“江南省造”，是因為當時蘇州已經有一個專鑄機制銅元的造幣廠，其鑄造的銅元均標明“江蘇省造”。為避免混淆，上海造幣廠將其鑄造的銀幣標明“江南省造”。系我國貨幣史上有名無實的省份銀幣。

江南省造甲辰光緒元寶庫平七錢二分銀幣，南京造幣廠於光緒三十年(1904年)鑄造。銀幣正面中珠圈內鐫滿漢文“光緒元寶”四字，上方銘文為“江南省造”，下方為“庫平七錢二分”，在“江南省造”的兩邊，右“甲”左“辰”是記年。“甲”字上側鐫英文“CH”、“辰”字上側鐫英文“HAH”字樣，中間的珠圈由99個小點組成。背面中心是一條細長七尾飛龍,龍尾後面有祥雲雲彩，這是一個新設計的背面，龍也是一條新設計的龍。在龍紋飾四周上下方為英文，左右各一個玫瑰花飾。此枚光緒元寶江南省造甲辰品相佳，包漿明顯，甚是罕見，具有極大的收藏價值，同時現在的市場價格也比較高。
