新年伊始，突如其来的新冠疫情遮住了新春佳节的祥和。未知的敌人、特殊的战场，一如凛冬袭来、黑暗肆虐。
As we were celebrating the Chinese New Year, the festival was disrupted by the outbreak of novel coronavirus. Facing unknown enemies on a special battlefield, we had to go through the chilly winter shrouded in darkness.
(1. as引导时间状语从句，此处可与when, while互换，从句中的谓语动词是持续性的动作；
while：在…期间（时间段，延续性动词），
when：什么时候（时间段、时间点都可以）。
as：像…一样，如同（两个动作同时发生）。
固定搭配： was/were doing…when….正在做某事，这时……
was about to do…when….正要去做……,这时……
hardly…when…. 刚…….就…..
2. Facing, v-ing做状语，与faced with 用法、意思相同。face v.面对，面向，面临。可与 be faced with互换使用。前者表动作，后者表状态。
3. go through经历，经受（坏事、苦事）；仔细检查（寻找）；get through 度过（艰难或不愉快的一段时间）；通过（考试、审查等）；（用电话与某 人）联系。 两者在表示“通过（某地、议案等）；用完”时可互换使用。)

Nonetheless, the Chinese nation never yielded in the course of its 5,000 years of history. No matter how many tribulations and disasters occurred, who has really defeated the adamant Chinese nation? No one!
(此处no matter how=however，引导让步状语从句；但no matter how 一般不用来引导名词性从句, 而however可以引导名词性从句；however还表示转折，相当于but, nevertheless， nonetheless之类的词，而且使用时一般后面加个逗号，注意but后面不加逗号。)
新闻上报道：一位民警隔着玻璃亲吻三岁的孩子，随即转身走向工作岗位；一位医生接过父亲写着“抗击非典”的战衣，又写下了“抗击新冠”四个大字；护士们剃掉长发，把美丽藏在了心间；某人把口罩交给民警、转身跑开，远远只传来了“我是中国人”的自白。他们都是凡人，却以血肉之躯，比肩神明！
News reported that a policeman kissed his kid separated by a glass before turning around to return to work; A doctor received a suit from his father written “Fight SARS” and added “Fight COVID-19” to it; Nurses shaved their heads and hid their beauties deep down in their minds; A man quickly ran to the police station, left masks behind and then ran away, and he was heard shouting from distance that “I’m a Chinese”. They are ordinary persons indeed, but their lofty deeds should be praised!
正是这点点星火，点燃了旧铁般的黑暗。目前，新增感染患者和重症患者比例大幅下降，正如世卫组织派出的专家组得出结论，中国实施的及时果断的防控措施，避免或至少推迟了数十万新冠肺炎病例的发生。
