Vasco da Gama started the season in pretty bad shape and they sit now 13th with eight points, only six behind the leaders and five ahead of the last team in the table, but with two victories, two draws and two defeats and a goal difference of zero (10 scored and 10 conceded) is hard to know if they’ll go up or down.
After finishing third in their Libertadores group with five points they only have the league to focus on now, and after an impressive 0-2 triumph over Universidad Chile came back to reality losing 3-0 to Bahia in the league. They have won two of the last six, but lost only four of the last nine, and only two of the five played this season in front of their supporters, winning two and drawing one.
They will have the easiest rivals of them all, recently promoted side, Parana, rock bottom with three points after drawing three, losing four, scoring only three goals and conceding 11. They are one of the only two sides without a victory yet, and haven’t scored a goal in four of the games played so far, losing two of the three played on the road, and Vasco da Gama should be able to repeat the result they have obtained in six of the 10 occasions they have faced each other, a triumph.
