Mark的用法
三、與mark有關的搭配：
1）mark表示“得分”常與get〔gain〕搭配使用，如：
she got good marks in English. 她英文得了好成績。I gained a mark of 70 in math. 我數學得了70分。
2）make a mark 做記號
You'd better make a mark where you have any questions.
你最好在你有疑問的地方作個記號。
3）be marked with 以……為標記
Zebras and tigers are marked with stripes. 斑馬和老虎身上有條紋。
4）make one’s mark 出名，成功
She made her mark by winning a championship.她獲得了冠軍，一舉成名。
5）mark A with B；mark B on A 做標記
She marked her handkerchief with her initials. She marked her initials on her handkerchief. 她把名字的首字母繡在了手帕上。
四、mark, sign , signal, symbol的辨析
sign, signal, symbol, mark這幾個詞作名詞講的時候都有“符號，標記”的意思
sign:指人們公認事物的記號、標誌，也可指某種情況的跡象。
e.g.You mustn't smoke in the room with a “No Smoking” sign.
你切勿在有“請勿吸菸”標誌的房間裡吸菸。
There are signs that restaurants are becoming more popular with families.
有跡象表明，餐館越來越受家庭歡迎。
signal: 指為某一目的而有意發出的信號、暗號。
When they found the ship was sinking, they immediately sent out the emergency signal SOS.
當他們發現船正在下沉的時候，他們立刻發出了SOS緊急求救信號。
symbol: 指有象徵意義的或表達某種深邃含義的特殊事物。
A dove is often used as a symbol of peace. 鴿子常被作為和平的象徵。
mark: 既可指方便於辨認而有意做的標記，又可指自然形成的標記或有別於其他事物的特徵。
He made some marks in the article where (it was )necessary. 他在文中必要的地方做了一些記號。
