Did the detectives save the diamonds?
The plane was late and detectives were expecting a valuable parcel of diamonds from South Africa.A few hours earlier,someone had told the police that thieves would try to steal the diamonds.When the plane arrived,some of the detectives were waiting inside the main building while others were waiting on the airfield.Two men took the parcel off the plane and carried it into the Customs House.While two detectives were keeping guard at door,two others opened the parcel.To their surprise,the precious parcel was full of stones and sand!
2⃣單詞:
1.all 一般直接加表示時間的單數名詞構成副詞短語，如:all day整整一天，all night整夜，all week整星期，all winter整個冬天，all year整年 等。但不說all hour.
比較whole:whole在表達同樣的意思時一般要加冠詞或數詞，如:a whole day/year一整天/年，two whole weeks整整兩星期
2.others代詞others常常和some連用，表示“有些（人）……也有些（人）……”或者“有的……，其餘的……”
3.expect①vt.,vi預計，預料②vt.等待，期待⭐️expect所表示的等待一般暗含著根據某些信息或規律而作出相應反應的意思，而wait(for)主要指“等待”這個動作本身。③vt.認為，猜想(一般用於口語)
4.steal ①vt.,vi偷盜②vt.巧妙地佔有，偷偷地弄到手③vi.偷偷地行竊，悄悄靠近

1.過去進行時
構成:
was/were+doing
用法:
She was reading a book at 11:00 last night.
否定疑問:
She was not reading a book……
Was she reading a book……?
2.短語動詞中的小品詞
許多動詞加上介詞或副詞後會改變詞義，這些介詞和副詞通常被稱為小品詞。它們沒有詞形變化，有些小品詞既可以作介詞，又可以作副詞。判斷一個小品詞是副詞還是介詞，要看小品詞有沒有帶賓語。有賓語的是介詞，沒有賓語的是副詞。介詞的位置相對固定些。
3.過去完成時
形式:had done
用法:過去的之前
Before 8:00 yesterday,she had finished her homework.
否定疑問:She had not finished her homework.
Had she finish her homework?
補充:
①過去完成時/現在完成時
時間點不同，但角度相同(回頭往之前看)
②過去完成時(過去的之前)/一般過去時(過去)

6.賓語從句 一個句子來做賓語
寫法:陳述句變賓語從句
4⃣碎知識點:
1.while作為連詞表示“和..……同時”、“當……時候”時常常引導一個過去進行時從句。
2.keep guard守望，警戒
與stand guard（站崗，放哨）意思相近
