BBC 語法講堂 02 頻度副詞 Adverbs of frequency

Hello, and welcome to today's Grammar Gameshow! I'm your host, Will!

大家好,歡迎來到今天的語法脫口秀。我是主持人 Will。

But, I'm no instant decision! And of course let's not forget Leslie, our all-knowing voice in the sky.

但我不是被臨時選來的哦!當然,別忘了 Leslie,我們無所不知的空中聲音。

Hello everyone! Tonight we're going to ask you three questions about. . .

大家好!今晚我們將問你們三個問題,關於……

Adverbs of frequency. Yes, those short words like always and sometimes that tell us how often people do things.

頻度副詞的用法。是的,這些短詞,如 “always” 和 “sometimes” 會告訴我們人們做事情的頻率。

OK! Now, let's meet our contestants! Hi, everyone. I'm Mike!

好了,現在有請我的選手!大家好,我是 Mike!

Contestant number 2? Hi, Will. My name's Sarah!

二號選手呢?你好,Will。我是 Sarah!

Welcome back, Sarah! OK! Let's get going and don't forget you can play along at home too.

歡迎回來,Sarah!好的,我們開始吧,別忘了你們在家也可以玩哦。

Our first question is a sorting question. Listen to these sentences and put them in the correct order from most often to least often.

第一題是分類題。聽這些句子,把他們按照從最經常到最不經常的頻率進行排序。

Here we go: a) I always ride my bike to school

開始。A:我總是騎車去學校

b) He never sleeps before nine c) She sometimes misses breakfast

B:他從不會在九點前睡覺 C:她有時候會錯過早餐

d) You often go on holiday e) It rarely rains here

D:你經常度假 E:這兒很少下雨

A, D, C, E, B Always, often, sometimes, rarely, never.

順序是 A,D,C,E,B 就是 Always,often,sometimes,rarely,never。

Leslie? Well done!

Leslie?很好!

As you said, from most often to least often: I always ride. . .

正如你說的,從最經常到最不經常的順序是:我總是騎車……

You often go. . . She sometimes misses. . .

你經常去……她有時候會錯過……

It rarely rains. . . He never sleeps. . .

這兒很少下雨……他從不睡覺……

Good job, Mike. You know sometimes a contestant will come along and really dazzle me with their intelligence and knowledge.

很棒哦,Mike。你知道,有時候某位選手的到來真的會讓我眼前一亮。

Not today. One point for you.

不是說今天(的選手)。給你一分。

Question two. What must you remember about the form of the main verb when using adverbs "never" and "rarely"?

第二題。當我們使用 “Never” 和 “rarely” 這兩個副詞的時候,我們要注意什麼呢?

The verb must be positive, not negative. Leslie?

動詞必須是肯定的,而不是否定的。Leslie?

Superb! "Never" and "rarely" must take a positive verb.

太棒了!“Never” 和 “rarely” 必須接肯定的動詞。

I never study. I rarely go. Good job Mike. Have 16 and a half points.

我從不學習。我很少去。很好,Mike。得16.5分。

You don't "never" need to worry with an answer like that.Yeah. . .

你不用也絕不需要擔心這樣的問題。是的……

Wait, what? Now for our final question.

等等,啥?現在,最後一題。

Look at this sentence and tell me where the adverb of frequency should go. Position B! Just before the main verb!

看句子,然後告訴我頻率副詞要放哪兒。B 那裡!就在主動詞前!

Leslie? Yes, Sarah. That's right.

Leslie?對的,Sarah。回答正確。

Good job Sarah, you aren't asleep after all. You can have 5 points, or you can gamble and go for 150 points.

很不錯,Sarah。回答正確。你可以得5分,或者你可以賭一把,爭取一下150分。

What would you like to do? . . . Gamble?

你想怎麼做?……打賭?

Everyone loves an entertaining fool. Here's your question:

大家都喜歡好玩的傻子。請看題。

Look at this sentence and tell me where the adverb of frequency should go. Nice try!

看句子,然後告訴我頻率副詞要放哪兒。想得美!

It's position B again! Leslie?

還是 B 選項那兒!Leslie?

Wrong, I'm afraid you were right in the first case. The adverb of frequency goes before the main verb.

恐怕回答錯了,剛剛第一種情況下你的回答是對的。頻率副詞放在主動詞前。

Unless, like in the second case, the main verb is the verb "be". Then, the adverb of frequency goes after.

但是,第二種情況下,主動詞是 “be” 動詞。那麼,頻率副詞就要放後面了。

I'm sorry Sarah. That was wrong! Minus 12 points.

很抱歉,Sarah,回答錯了哦!扣12分。

Well, that brings us to the end of today's Grammar Gameshow. Let's count out the points.

好吧,今天的語法脫口秀就要結束了。我們算下分數吧。

And the winner is. . . Mike! With 412.

獲勝者就是……Mike!獲得412分。

Well done! Here's what you've won! It's a pen!

漂亮!這是你的獎品!一支鉛筆!

You can finally practice your spelling! And how did you do at home?

你終於可以練一下拼寫了。在家的你們答得怎麼樣呢?

We'll see you again next week, where you can play for an even bigger prize. And Sarah?

我們下週見,到時候你可以贏取更大的獎品。那麼 Sarah 呢?

You barely got in the game at all. Why?

你根本沒進入遊戲裡。為什麼?

I think it's because. . .

我覺得是因為……

Fascinating!

太有意思了!

Feed her to the sharks! It looks like we'll need another contestant.

把她喂鯊魚吧!看來我們要來一位新的選手了。

Thanks for joining us. Say goodbye, Leslie.

感謝大家參與。再見,Leslie。

Goodbye Leslie. See you next time!

再見吧 Leslie。下次見!
