第一讲答案：
1、who,whom,that,不填
The man 是先行词， （who）I saw at the school gate yesterday 是定语从句，the man 做定语从句的宾语，又是指人，所以，可以用who,whom,that,或者省略。
译文：我昨天在学校大门口看到的那个男人是我的英语老师。
2、who,that
The boy 是先行词，（who）is wearing a red coat. 是定语从句。这个句子没有主语，所以，the boy 作的是定语从句的主语。所以，只能用who和that。不能省略。
译文：我正在等那个穿着红色大衣的男孩。
3、whose
先行词是his mother,和name之间有所有格的关系。
这个女士是他的妈妈，名字叫布朗·琳达。
4、who,that
an old man 是先行词，（who）lost his way。是定语从句，an old man作定语从句的主语。
5、who,whom,that,不填
the man，是先行词。（who）you met in the zoo this morning是定语从句。因为定语从句中有you这个主语，所以the man在定语从句中作宾语，可以省略。
译文：王先生就是今天早上你在动物园遇见的那个人。
6、whose
the boy先行词，和mother一起构成了所有格关系。
译文：那个男孩今天呆在家里照顾他的妈妈，他的妈妈生病了。
7、who,whom,that,不填
the person是先行词。（who） you talked about是定语从句。the person在定语从句中作宾语，所以可以省略。
8、who,whom,that,不填
the man是先行词。（who）you met just now是定语从句。the man在定语从句中作宾语，所以可以省略。
译文：你刚刚遇见的那个人是我的朋友。
9、whose
a house是先行词，它和定语从句中的roof构成了所有格关系，所以这里填whose。
译文：我住在一个房顶已经塌陷的房子里。
10、who
Charles Smith是先行词，在定语从句中作主语，（who）was my former teacher 是非限制性定语从句。
译文：去年退休的查尔斯·史密斯是我以前的老师。
