英语有不少表达，看起来类似，其实细微的差别导致意思的巨大不同。比如go to hospital 和go to the hospital，你能区分吗？原来go to hospital 表示“住院，看病”，而go to the hospital 是“去医院，去医院上班”；at sea 和all at sea 的意思也不一样，前者是说“在海上”，而all at sea 表示“茫然不知所措”；on earth 和on the earth也让很多人困惑，其实on earth意思是“究竟，到底”，on the earth 意思是“在地球上”；再来看out of question 和out of the question又有什么差别？out of question 是“毫无疑问，没问题”，而out of the question 是“不可能的”。

on sale 的意思是“折价销售，减价出售”。
All the books are on sale today and tomorrow.

Many sweet foods are on sale in the store.
这家商店在廉价出售多种甜食。
on sale 还有“出售，上市”的意思，一般说的是在商店。
All tickets go on sale this Friday.
所有票在本星期五开始销售。
for sale 的意思是“待售，供出售”，一般指的是从物主手里。
They will put all these second-hand goods up for sale.
他们将把这些旧货全部公开出售。
All the exhibits for sale here are new products.
这里展销的尽是新产品。
很多同学或许会有疑惑，sales 是单数还是复数，到底什么意思？这个问题并不复杂。作为名词是“销售量”，sales 肯定是复数；如果口语里面，有人说 I once worked as a sales in that company，这里的sales，其实是salesman的简称，是单数；如果看到sales department ，这里的sales又是形容词，意思是“销售的”。所以，具体情况具体分析吧！
