这样的单词用多了，只能说明词汇积累的匮乏，很难拿到高分。下面的动词短语就能代替这些one word单词，地道又实用，高分妥妥的！
Play it safe 谨慎行事，妥当
Meaning: to be or act safe, to avoid taking a risk
Example: My boss likes to play it safe with his investments.
Throw in the towel 认输、放弃
Meaning: to quit, to give up, to admit defeat or failure
Example:The union was forced to throw in the towel and settle their bitter dispute withthe company.
To give it one’s best shot 尽力做好
Meaning: make one’s hardest or most enthusiastic attempt
Example: I don’t know if I can do it, but I’ll give it my best shot.
To keep your eye on the ball 谨慎小心
Meaning: to remain alert
Example: You’ll need to keep your eye on the ball on this project, the technology is moving so quickly.
To kick something around 讨论
Meaning: to pass ideas from person to person
Example: Let’s just kick a few ideas around and see what we come up with.
To kick it into touch 取消
Meaning: to cancel or quit something
Example: Before we waste any more time on this, I suggest we just kick it into touch, it’s just not going to work.

Meaning: correct or accurate

Knock somebody/oneself out 使得..累倒
Meaning: make someone very tired

Meaning：secret,clandestine
Example：It was an under-the-table deal.

Meaning: a completely different situation
Example:The teenage world is a whole new ballgame for most parents.
Winby a nose / whisker 侥幸取胜
Meaning:to win by the slightest amount of difference, just barely succeed
Example:I ran the fastest I could, but I only won by a nose / whisker.
Letoff steam 发泄
Meaning: torelease emotional tension
Example: Outdoor activities enable them to get some exercise and let off some steam.
Put my feet up 放松
Meaning: to relax, especially by sitting with your feet supported above the ground

Wind down 放松
Meaning: to slow something down; to make something less hectic
Example: A glass of milk can probably help you wind down.

Meaning: to become involved in something; to develop an interest in something
Example: If you get into a particular kind of work or activity, you manage to be come involved in it.
Put off 使反感；使对…失去兴趣
Meaning: to feel intense dislike or distaste
Example: She's very clever, but her manner does tend to put people off.
Catch up 发现
Meaning: to find out about things that have happened
Example: We spent the evening catching up (on each other's news).
Chill out 冷静下来
Meaning: to spend time relaxing; to relax and stop feeling angry or nervous about something
Example: You need to chill out.
Settle down 冷静
Meaning: to become calm or composed
Example: When I am on the train, I'll settle down with a good book.
Pick up 学会
Meaning: to acquire knowledge or habits through practice or experience
Example: I picked up a lot of knowledge about music from my brother.
Blow away 使…印象深刻
Meaning: toi mpress somebody a lot or to make them very happy
Example: That concert blew me away.
