外国人最爱用的口语表达,学到就是赚到~


又到了咱久违的idioms学习时间啦!话说,很多烤鸭在回答的时候,经常就喜欢用one word单词。想表达放松只会说relax, 想说学会只知道learn…

这样的单词用多了,只能说明词汇积累的匮乏,很难拿到高分。下面的动词短语就能代替这些one word单词,地道又实用,高分妥妥的!

Play it safe 谨慎行事,妥当

Meaning: to be or act safe, to avoid taking a risk

Example: My boss likes to play it safe with his investments.

Throw in the towel 认输、放弃

Meaning: to quit, to give up, to admit defeat or failure

Example:The union was forced to throw in the towel and settle their bitter dispute withthe company.

To give it one’s best shot 尽力做好

Meaning: make one’s hardest or most enthusiastic attempt

Example: I don’t know if I can do it, but I’ll give it my best shot.

To keep your eye on the ball 谨慎小心

Meaning: to remain alert

Example: You’ll need to keep your eye on the ball on this project, the technology is moving so quickly.

To kick something around 讨论

Meaning: to pass ideas from person to person

Example: Let’s just kick a few ideas around and see what we come up with.

To kick it into touch 取消

Meaning: to cancel or quit something

Example: Before we waste any more time on this, I suggest we just kick it into touch, it’s just not going to work.

Meaning: correct or accurate

Meaning: to become calm or composed

Example: When I am on the train, I'll settle down with a good book.

Pick up 学会

Meaning: to acquire knowledge or habits through practice or experience

Example: I picked up a lot of knowledge about music from my brother.

Blow away 使…印象深刻

Meaning: toi mpress somebody a lot or to make them very happy

Example: That concert blew me away.
