《纽约时报》：特朗普参与可疑的避税方案，并从父亲那里获得财富
调查报告称，特朗普曾从他父亲的地产帝国中获得了至少相当于现在4.13亿美元的财富，而这些财富大多是在上世纪90年代通过帮他父母偷税得来的，其中还存在彻头彻尾的诈骗行为。
《纽约时报》写道：
President Trump participated in dubious tax schemes during the 1990s, including instances of outright fraud, that greatly increased the fortune he received from his parents, an investigation by The New York Times has found.
《纽约时报》的一项调查发现，特朗普总统曾在上世纪90年代参与可疑的避税方案，其中包括彻头彻尾的诈骗，并因此大大增加了他从父母那里获得的财产。

The Times’s investigation, based on a vast trove of confidential tax returns and financial records, reveals that Mr. Trump received the equivalent today of at least $413 million from his father’s real estate empire.

Much of this money came to Mr. Trump because he helped his parents dodge taxes. He and his siblings set up a sham corporation to disguise millions of dollars in gifts from their parents, records and interviews show.

Records indicate that Mr. Trump helped his father take improper tax deductions worth millions more. He also helped formulate a strategy to undervalue his parents’ real estate holdings by hundreds of millions of dollars on tax returns, sharply reducing the tax bill when those properties were transferred to him and his siblings.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders called the story “misleading” and said in a statement “many decades ago the IRS reviewed and signed off on these transactions.”

特朗普的律师查尔斯·哈德（Charles Harder）也发表声明称《纽约时报》的指控是“诽谤”（defamatory）：
“The New York Times’ allegations of fraud and tax evasion are 100 percent false, and highly defamatory.”

哈德称特朗普几乎没有参与相关事务：
“President Trump had virtually no involvement whatsoever with these matters.”
特朗普几乎没有参与这些事务。
“The affairs were handled by other Trump family members who were not experts themselves and therefore relied entirely upon the aforementioned licensed professionals to ensure full compliance with the law.”
这些事都是由特朗普家族的其他成员处理的，他们不是专家，因此完全依靠前文提到的有执照的专业人士的帮助，以确保完全遵守法律。
另一方面，《纽约时报》的报道引发了纽约州当局的高度重视。

James Gazzale, a spokesman for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, said the department “is reviewing the allegations in the New York Times article and is vigorously pursuing all appropriate avenues of investigation.”

然而事情还没有完。参与此案调查的《纽约时报》记者苏珊娜·克雷格（Susanne Craig）7日表示，此报道仍可能有续集。
克雷格接受美国有线电视新闻网络（CNN）采访时表示：
"We've got more leads and more string to pull. We're just going to keep going on it," investigative reporter Susanne Craig told CNN's Brian Stelter on "Reliable Sources" Sunday.
“我们得到了很多的线索，还有更多可挖的东西。目前，我们还在继续追踪此事。”在接受CNN记者布莱恩·斯泰尔特7日采访时，克雷格提到他们有“可靠信源”。
克雷格说，这件事很有可能还有“续集”（part two）。

The reporters began by looking at the 2005 tax return that leaked out in March 2017. They started with some simple questions about how Trump made money that year.

Craig said there wasn't a single moment when they realized they had a big story. She called the process a "real journey of discovery."

"One thing kind of led to another, and then we started to reach out to sources and got an extraordinary amount of documents," she said. She and her colleagues spent a year and a half going through the materials.

Craig said the story "will have legs" and will take a long time for people to digest." It sets down a factual narrative of his life that is very much in contrast with the one that's largely out there now," she said, referring to the image of Trump as a self-made billionaire.
克雷格说，这个报道将“持续发酵”，公众要花很长时间去消化。“这是对特朗普形象事实性的叙述，跟他一直给人的印象将大相径庭。”她指的是特朗普白手起家的亿万富翁形象。

文章于本月3日刊出后，《纽约时报》非常罕见地（took the unusual step）于7日再版（reprinting）了这篇1.3万字的报道。
