英國泰晤士高等教育（THE）昨天（26日）公佈了2019年的“世界大學排名”，該排名是基於教學、研究、國際視野等13項標準評選。排在前三名的分別是：牛津、劍橋、斯坦福大學。清華大學排名第22，在所有亞洲大學當中排名最高。

“大學”一詞，古今中外各不相同，比如英語中的“University”最早脫胎於一些學生社團；而在中國古代，不僅有古籍儒家四書之一《大學》，還指聚集在特定地點整理、研究和傳播高深領域知識的機構。
而現在“大學”一詞官方解釋是，泛指實施高等教育的學校，是指提供教學和研究條件的高等教育組織，包括大學、學院、高職高專（專科院校及高等職業院校）。下面羅列了世界29所著名大學的經典校訓，一起來看看吧。
Cambridge University：Here is light asacred and knowledge.
劍橋大學：求知學習的理想之地。
Yale University：Truth and light.
耶魯大學：真理、光明。
Oxford University ：The lord is my illumination.
牛津大學：上帝賜予我們知識。

United States Millitary Academy at West Point：Duty，Honor.
西點軍校：職責、榮譽、國家。
University of Michigan：Art，Science，Truth.
密歇根大學：藝術、科學、真理。
Toronto University：As a tree with the passage of time.
多倫多大學：像大樹一樣茁壯成長。
London University：Let everyone come to the university and merit the first prize.
倫敦大學：我們為至高榮譽齊聚於此。
University of Cape Town：Good hope.
開普敦大學：美好的希望。
Queen’s University：Wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thr times.
皇后大學：智慧和知識將是未來時代的穩定之基。
University of Sydney：Although the stars are changed，our spirit is same.
悉尼大學：物換星移，心智相通。
University of Pennsylvania：Laws without character are in vain.
賓夕法尼亞大學：毫無特性的學習將一事無成。
Massachusetts Institite of Technology(MIT)：Mind and hand.
麻省理工學院：理論與實踐並重。
Cornell University：I would found an institution where any person can find instruction in any study.
康奈爾大學：讓任何人都能在這裡學到想學的科目。

澳大利亞國家大學：重要的是弄清事物的本質。

杜克大學：追求知識，堅定信仰。
Stanford University：Let the wind of freedom blow.
斯坦福大學：讓學術之風勁吹。
Chicago University：Let knowledge increase so that life may be enriched.
芝加哥大學：讓知識充實你的人生。
Maihidol University：Do unto others as you would do unto yourself.
馬依多爾大學：以惠我之心惠人。
California Institute of Technology：The truth shall make you free.
加州理工學院：真理使人自由。
而亞洲排名第一的國內名校清華，它的校訓則出自於古籍《周易》：天行鍵, 君子以自強不息。地勢坤, 君子以厚德載物（Heaven trip key , the gentleman to self-improvement . Earth trip key , the gentleman to Virtuous）
