对于一封信而言，我们首先就要礼貌地表示来意，然后开门见山，点出写信目的。然后，我们就要进入到“叙述”的部分，也就是结合我们的写作目的，完整、清晰地讲清楚你写信的来龙去脉，力求内容清楚晓畅有逻辑，这也是书信的“重头戏”部分。在叙述的时候可以采用“5W1H”的方法，也就是What（什么），When（时间），Why（原因），Who（人物），Where（地点），How（方式），在书信的主体段落构建中，要充分考虑到这几个要素。最后，我们要进行点题，再一次总结概括自己的诉求或是表明自己写信的主题，让这封信看起来“有始有终”。
在写信的时候，我们要学会“预设”一个对象，也就是说我们要去思考如何最清楚、最简洁地表达清楚自己的意思，让收信人准确get到我们的点。如果能够达到这一点，其实我们的写作目的就完成了一大半。这也再次对同学们的逻辑思维能力提出了要求，写信之前一定要构思好、想清楚，可以先用中文的思维去搭建框架，再将具体语言转化成英文。
